CHICKEN CROISSANTS
My family also calls this Chimento Chicken b/c our old friends the Chimentos loved it…I think Chimento Chicken has a nice ring to itAlso note, this is another recipe from my mom…so all amounts are guesses. Don’t you love it?
- Cream Cheese (1 package)
- Mushrooms (1 package, diced)
- Onion (as much as you like…I use about 1/4 of an onion)
- Cooked Chicken Breast (2 breasts?)
- Pillsbury Crescent Rolls OR Frozen Filo Dough
- Gravy topping – you can use cream of chicken soup or make chicken gravy with broth and thickeningCook the chicken breast however you want (boil, pressure cooker, microwave). Chop up and sautee the mushrooms and onions. Mix chicken, mushrooms and onions into the cream
cheese. This is your filling. Here are the directions for each type of “crescent”:Pillsbury Crescent Rolls: Put a blob of filling on the triangle of dough and roll the dough around the filling – cook for as long as directed on the package for the rolls.
Phyllo: Follow the directions on the package for phyllo.
Phyllo is SUPER yummy, but the crescent rolls are yummy too – crescent rolls are MUCH easier.
Top with gravy and enjoy!

Loved this recipe! Just discovered your site and have added it to my favorties. I modified this one a tad by adding peas and a pinch of sugar to the filling! Yum! Also discovered you can make the filling in advance (I made while girls napped), then easy peasy dinner in minutes!
Thanks for doing what you do!

OH MY GOSH!!!! i HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS RECIPE FOR 10 YEARS!!! A BABYSITTER MADE IT FOR MY DAUGHTER WHEN SHE WAS 7 …. NOW SHE IS 17!!! SHE KEEPS ASKING ME TO MAKE IT AND SHE ONLY DESCRIBES IT AS BEING CHICKEN IN CRESCENT ROLLS!!! I CANT WAIT TO SURPRISE HER WITH THIS!!! I AM LOVING THIS SITE AS I ONLY STARTED MAKING DINNER AND COOKING ABOUT A MONTH AGO!!!
well, boy am I Glad I could help end a 10 year search!
happy cooking!
I used butter to saute the chicken in with some minced garlic, once finished used same skillet to saute onion and mushrooms (about 10) a whole pkg would have been too much. I then combined with finely chopped chicken, salt and pepper to taste, and some red pepper flakes. And then rolled up and baked 20 min. Also made a chicken gravy instead, made a roux with butter and flour and used chicken stock, and added some shredded chicken from the 2 breasts cooked earlier. And I have to say it was DIVINE!!!! Thanks a bunch with a start to a wonderfully good recipe!!
so glad it was divine – sounds like some good modifications to me!
