Handy Kitchen Tool: Magnetic Clips

EmailPinterest0Facebook0Twitter0Google+0StumbleUpon0

I spotted these magnetic clips at Bed, Bath and Beyond last year and thought they might come in handy, so I grabbed a pack. I soon discovered that not only are they handy, they are indispensable!

I bought another pack last week to add to my collection. If 7 clips are good, 14 is GREAT! You simply don’t realize how often you need a clip in the kitchen until you have an abundance lying around waiting to be used. And not only have I discovered the handiness of clips in general, but being able to “store” them on my fridge means they’re always right at my fingertips and not lost in a drawer somewhere.

Someone is bound to ask about the ‘Fun Recipes for You and Child’ paper hanging from the black clip.  So, I’ve typed them up for you! Click more to read the recipe for Playdough, Flubber and Koolaid Playdough.

Playdough
- 1 C flour
- 1/2 C salt
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 C water
- 1 T oil
- few drops of desired food coloring

Mix all ingredients together in an electric skillet. Cook on a low heat setting until the mixture is lumpy. Turn the dough out on wax paper. Knead when cool. (Add desired spices for great aroma too!)

Flubber
In a large bowl, mix 2 C Elmer’s glue with 1 1/2 C of water and a few drops of desired food coloring (or liquid watercolor). In a smaller bowl, mix 1 T Borax soap with 1 C hot water. Slowly add the soap and water mixture to the large bowl and mix around with your hands. Take Flubber out of bowl and knead. If Flubber gets stuck onto clothing, soak the garment in cold water BEFORE washing it.

Koolaid Playdough
- 6 C flour
- 2 C salt
- 4 packages Koolaid (unsweetened)
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 6 C boiling hot water
- 4 T oil

Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add oil and water and stir. When water is stirred completely into the mixture, take the Koolaid Playdough out of the bowl and knead until it cools.
