Good morning! I’m up with the birds, eating oatmeal with my sweet Cate and actually getting my menu done well before 10 pm. I think it’s going to be a good day. Well, except for the 6 loads of unfolded clean laundry leering at me.

Yeah, yeah…I have a couple duplicates from last week’s menu. We ended up taking an impromptu trip to Monterey for two days, so we ate out a little more than planned. Which is always a fun thing!
MONDAY:
- Homemade pizza…toppings tbd
TUESDAY:
- Goat Cheese & Sun Dried Tomato Pasta (thank you to renee for the link!)
- Salad & Bread
WEDNESDAY:
- Maple glazed chicken (one of Cate’s wonderful preschool teachers slipped me this recipe last week and it looks divine…I will definitely share the recipe after I get some good photos!)
- Rice & Veggie
THURSDAY:
- Leftovers
FRIDAY:
- Waffles (recipe is about half-way down the page; try using 1/2 white flour, 1/2 white whole wheat flour…it comes out great!)
- Smoothies (anyone have a vegetable suggestion for secretly slipping into a fruit smoothie?)
SATURDAY:
- Eat out
SUNDAY:
- Lentil Soup
Your turn! Please share your menu for the week! Big, small, short, tall…we love ‘em all! (Perhaps I should ditch this blogging thing and become a poet?)

Hello! My name is Jane Maynard and you've landed yourself on my blog, This Week for Dinner™. Every Sunday I share a weekly menu...and then count on you to share your own! You'll also find other deliciousness that I hope you'll enjoy!

I haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve heard that avacado is really good in smoothies. I had a great green smoothie the other day – spinach, wheat germ, ice and a couple punes to make it a little sweet.
Just found your blog today; one of those……I”m not sure HOW moments. I like to add a few baby carrots to my fruit/yogurt smoothies. Not that I really need MORE Vitamin A (than what’s in the milk & yogurt) but…..
Last week, a co-worker mentioned that she recently had a smoothie that contained both spinach and kale. Sounds like an interesting experiment to me!
Add baby carrots and spinach to any fruity smoothie, I SWEAR you can’t taste it! My 2 year old can’t tell, so I promise you won’t either
I’ve heard too that spinach added to a smoothie isn’t noticeable-I’ve been too much of a wuss to try it.
I have some repeats from last week-I feel as if I’m trying to catch up from when I was sick a few weeks ago! Your blog really helps to keep me motivated and I appreciate that!

Monday:Ritzy Chicken over rice (cooked chicken mixed with cream of chicken soup, sour cream, poured into a casserole dish and topped with buttered crushed ritz crackers and baked.)
Mixed vegetables
Tuesday: Leftover Ritzy Chicken-it’s SO much better the second day!
Mixed Vegetables
Wednesday: Corn & Sausage Chowder, salad, garlic bread
Thursday: Same as Wednesday
Friday: Biscuit & Beef Casserole (ground beef sauteed with onions and then drained, mixed with a can of baked beans, topped with biscuits and then baked until the biscuits are done)
green beans

Spinach is my go to vegetable for smoothies. It’s so mild it really disappears behind the fruit. I usually blend a handful of spinach with half a cup of OJ, then add half a banana and a cup of some frozen veggie- pineapple and mixed berries are both really good. Word to the wise though, the pineapple smoothie will be very bright green, whereas the berries disguise the spinach color well.
I’ve just finished my menu, but haven’t decided which day will be what.
-Grilled fish
-Rosemary roasted potatoes
-Sauteed escarole
-Spaghetti w/ basil tomato sauce
-Salad
-Mushroom & spinach tart
-Balsamic roasted pearl onions

i put spinach in my smoothies. cook it in the microwave for about 2 mins first so that your body can absorb the iron. it will turn your smoothie green (almost always) but you cant taste it with the right fruit combination (i use banana and strawberries). its really good; i just finished having one for breakfast
Lentil soup
Mushroom Barley soup (twopeasandtheirpod.com)
Veggie Stir Fry with Rice
Chicken and mashed potatoes with veggies
Take out
Garden Spiral Primavera
I make “green smoothies” almost every night with my Vitamix. Go to greensmoothiegirl.com. I always add spinach(you cannot taste this) and usually a carrot, a half a stick of celery, and kale along with a bunch of fruit(banana, orange, frozen berries, and anything else that is in season or in the house). Avocados are also great to add. You can add collard greens, broccoli, cabbage, beets, green lettuces, etc. Just be careful to add small amounts of these at first and then increase to your taste. Some like cabbage and celery have really strong flavors so you don’t want to add to much. My husband, 2 year old, and I drink these every night. YUM!
I just found your site & think that it looks really good and a great idea. I’ve just started trying to make up weekly menus to help budget finances and explore different foods. Anyway, I thought I would comment also.

I agree with everyone else…spinach is a great way to get raw veggies into kids, especially with a dark red/purple berry like blueberries or raspberries…they mask the green color. I have tried Kale and that works too, I just wait till the bags of spinach are on sale and stock up. It doesn’t have to be in top form for a smoothie.
