Also being a proud Ohioan and Buckeye fan, I have never heard of crispy buckeyes. Here is my family's time trusted recipe. We, along with almost everyone I know, make these around Christmas and I'm not really sure why.
1 Stick butter
1 1/2 c creamy peanut butter
1 lb confectioners sugar
8-10 oz milk chocolate chips (for dipping)
Some people also add 1/2 bar of paraffin wax to the chocolate to help smooth it out, but I don't really like eating things that you can wax a surfboard with, so I omit that.
Mix all ingredients but the chocolate and form into small balls. Chill the balls so they are easier to dip. Then using a toothpick, dip each ball into the melted chocolate leaving a small circle of peanut butter showing at the top. Set each buckeye on wax paper to cool. Store in airtight container and enjoy!

Being from the state of Ohio, and an avid Buckeye fan my entire life - I have never heard of Krispies in Buckeyes. It think that is sounds like a yummy concept, but I do not think that they can then really be called Buckeyes!!!
