This giveaway is now closed. Winners will be announced on Thursday, 3/18. Keep reading this post, though – the book and the recipe are great!
The first recipe I made from my new cookbook was a success! The whole family loved this pasta with peas and ricotta last night. Looks yummy, doesn’t it? It was fast and only used one pan, which makes the recipe even better in my book!

Want to make it yourself? Well, I’ll share the recipe with you at the end of this post…but first you need to enter today’s giveaway! TWO lucky readers will each win a copy of Everyday Food: Fresh Flavor Fast. Big thanks to Everyday Food for a very fab cookbook giveaway!
Please add a comment to this post by Midnight PT, Wednesday March 17 to enter! Two random winners will be announced March 18. To enter, share your favorite Everyday Food recipe with us (links welcome!) in the comments section…or just comment about anything! (One entry per person and the prize needs to be shipped to a U.S. address.)
Good luck with the giveaway! Time for the recipe!
Pasta with Peas & Ricotta
From Everyday Food: Fresh Flavor Fast
- Coarse salt & freshly ground pepper
- 12 oz gemelli or short pasta shapes (I had farfalle (bowties), so that’s what I used)
- 12 oz sugar snap peas
- 1 package (10 oz) frozen peas
- I cut up about 8 asparagus spears into short pieces, and cut the quantity of peas in half…it would be good either way
- 2 tablespoons butter cut into pieces (I did 3 TBSP, because if 2 is good, 3 is better, right?)
- 1 tablespoon coarsely chopped fresh tarragon, plus sprigs for garnish (I forgot to pick up tarragon, so I did some basil and parsley which was tasty!)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
Bring a pot of water to a boil; add a generous amount of salt. Cook pasta until al dente according to package instructions, adding snap peas 3 minutes before the end and frozen peas in the last minute of cooking. Reserve 1/2 – 1 cup pasta water; drain pasta and vegetables, and return them to the pot.
Toss pasta and vegetables with butter, tarragon, and ricotta, adding enough reserved pasta water to create a thin sauce that coats pasta. Season with salt & pepper.

everyday food is the best! Their magazine has the best pictues and recipes and I have loved so many of the ones we’ve tried. However, I think some peas and pasta and ricotta is on the table tonight!
I love Everyday food! Great recipes that are easy and fresh!
Beautiful! We will be making this tonight.

Oh my goodness that looks so unbelievably good! I want some right now!!
That may be my dinner tonight with a lovely glass of white wine! YUM!
I love ricotta cheese sooo yummy. Everyday Food is one of my favorite magazines for meal ideas. I love that they provide shopping lists and I have even used a few of the cookie recipes for my baked goods business at Christmas (ice box cookies).
Yum! I know what is going on my menu for next week. And I’d love to add this cookbook to my collection.

Looks amazing!
Yum! Peas, ricotta, and pasta! That sounds delicious!
I love Everyday Food! Thanks for sharing this giveaway. The one recipe I go back to time and time again is their simple, but yummy Strawberry Shortcakes. It’s a very mildy sweet biscuit type of Shortcake, but my goodness, is it delicious!
I LOVE peas w/pasta!
I just found your site! Bound to be one of my favorites to be sure! Love the recipes.
Absolutely!!!
Ooh, that sounds fantastic!! Pick me!!
Yummy!
I haven’t checked out the new one, but the old cookbook I use all the time. I love how its divided by season. Genius!
Trying to learn to cook. This book would help, a lot!!
Looks delicious! And uses bright, in-season spring veggies – definitely a must-cook meal this week!
Everyday Foods has some really great recipes and for me to have them in one cookbook would be fabulous.
This looks great!
I would love the cookbook. We try to eat very little meat and that recipe looks like something our whole family will love!
I’m always looking for new cookbooks. Good ones are so hard to find!
that looks delicious, thanks for all your great recipe posts!
i subscribe to the magazine, so the cookbook would be great!
Love your blog! That recipe looks delish and I do love me a good cookbook.
I love Everyday Food! It’s practically the only cookbook I use, save for the Bible, The Joy of Cooking. Hope I win!!
I cook from this magazine maybe 5 times a week! I’d love the book!
I would love that cookbook! It looks fabulous and if you love it then I know it is!
On another note, the other day my husband noticed me reading your blog and asked, “Why do you need a blog just to tell people what you’re going to eat that week?” I just laughed – poor man doesn’t understand food bloggers.
I LOVE your blog, thanks for doing it! (And one of these days I’ll actually submit my own weekly meal plan, but I’m so bad at planning!)
If I win maybe I might even cook…
I need new everyday recipes!!
- Stacy
What a great spring recipe! I love Everyday Food, their recipes are so simple, healthy, and real. My favorite recipe from them is for Risotto. I don’t want to post it here and take up too much comment space, but anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and look it up. YUM!
Looks yummy! Might make this tonight.
I’m so excited! My just-turned-18-year-old son has finally decided that green vegetables are not a form of Kryptonite that will remove his superhuman powers and weaken him to nothingness…perhaps he will finally be ready to experiment with the green and white color palate plate. Looks good to me!
This looks yummy. I think I’ll try it this weekend.
one day I’ll start cooking more than pasta:-)
Would love this recipe book!
I love the magazine and would love a cookbook!
Looks delicious! Would love it!

I love the recipe Lighter Chicken Enchiladas. Everyday food is my favorite magazine. I always recommend it to my friends.
That looks delicious! I wonder if it would be good with a little lemon zest. Yum!
I absolutely love Everyday Food! Please pick me!
Sounds wonderful! So, does the pasta dish. I might just make the tonight. Yum!! Miss you Jane, you’ll have to let me know next time you are in SD.
This looks great-but my kids would look at the cheese and refuse to try it. Any suggestions? Strangely they would have no problem with all the good green veggies, it’s sauce they seem to have issues with!
I would certainly need to get rid of all the green stuff in that recipe because my boys (hubby & son) wouldn’t touch it. Me, I would love it with all the delicious green stuff!! Thanks for a chance to win a recipe book that sounds great to have. I’m all about easy, everyday food!
Love peas with pasta; I’ve made something like this before and it was yum:)
Ok, I actually probably need this as a sub-par cook that can’t seem to hold the baby and think at the same time.
That recipe looks fabulous, if only I could convince my husband to even try something like that! He’s anti-sauce on pasta for the most part, especially one that is creamy. I love ricotta on pasta – another favorite is mixing ricotta with some pesto.
Fast AND easy…thats right up my alley!
Looks like comfort food at its best!
Thanks for sharing the post- and for a chance to win the new cookbook!!! Thinking pasta for dinner now- although it wasn’t on my meal plan for this week.
I love the Everyday Food magazines!

my daughter is too young to reject green things yet so i should try this while i can.
Everyday food is great reading!

Yummy!!! I’d love one of these.
This recipe looks delish and my husband will love it! I would love a copy of the cookbook!!
Just found your website – it will be a new favorite. I love everday food recipes because they are fresh, healthy, creative and realistic! One of my favorite easy recipes for lunch are the pureed vegetable soups from the Jan/Feb. 2008 issue – they freeze well and help me stick to my diet. I also enjoy the cookie jar column (not great for the diet, but a wonderful treat:)
looks tasty, I’d love to have the cookbook!
I’ve recently started to love cooking for me and my boyfriend. I’d love this cookbook to add to my small collection. I’m always looking for great things like this pasta to cook for dinner! It looks so good! And I don’t even know if I like peas!

I love Pasta with Peas & Ricotta!
http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/favorite-tortilla-and-black-bean-pie
I LOVE so many of the Everyday Food recipes, and all my magazines are filled with dog-eared recipes I go back to time and again, but this Tortilla and Black Bean Pie is one that is a favorite. It’s one of the only ways I can get my husband to go meatless, and he didn’t even notice its lack of meat- it’s that hearty. The recipe says to trim tortillas to fit a springform pan, but I never bother with that extra step; just squeeze them in, or set the pie layers in a round casserole dish, even if it doesn’t fill it completely. Enjoy!
My favorite Everyday Food recipe is the Beef Bulgogi from “Great Food Fast”. After I discovered it, we made it 3 times within a two week period. I’m so excited for the “Fresh” cookbook to finally be published!
Looks wonderful! I would love to try the recipe soon
I’m making the chocolate cake as I type! Woo hoo!

Mmm peas. I love peas
Pick me!
Looks delicious!
i actually have sugar snap peas waiting to be enhanced.
I love cookbooks! Thanks!
When I was little my favorite food to make was lasagna. Now my favorite “easy but yummy dish” is
creamy chicken enchiladas
I cook up about 1 lb. of chicken and add a can of cream of chicken soup, 1/2 a can of milk, 4 ounces of cream cheese, and a small can of diced green chili. For additional seasoning I toss in a little black pepper, paprika, and some delicious mild chili pepper that I bought off someone from New Mexico who was selling it (and fresh fire roasted chili) on the side of the road. Put the filling in the tortilla of choice, sprinkle a bit of cheese on it, roll them up. Reserve some filling to go on top of all the enchiladas and sprinkle with additional cheese.
Can I be put in the drawing for the cookbook? I was just thinking how I needed to get another one.
