I recently attended a family reunion where my cousin Jamie served cucumber water. I don’t think I actually drank any…I don’t know why…but when I threw my party a few week ago, I decided to give the cucumber water a whirl. I don’t know what my guests thought, but I loved it. It was very refreshing and a really nice beverage on a warm, summery day.
Tell me this picture doesn’t make you thirsty. I dare you.
And since I know someone is going to ask about the beverage dispenser pictured, I borrowed it from my friend Ana. She got it at Costco. It’s perfect and I’m jealous and I don’t know if they have it anymore. There are a bunch of beverage dispensers on Amazon - this one comes closest to Ana’s in shape, but this hexagonal dispenser is pretty cool, too.

This is interesting. If I could get my family members to cut up the cucumbers, we might just serve this soon. I am the only one in my entire extended family who can not stand cucumbers – I know I know – it is practically unAmerican of me…. My aversion is so bad I have to go outside when someone is even slicing them. But the rest of the family *adores* them. So this would be a hit. {I’ll just have water with limes for myself.} Thanks for the idea – should make for some good conversation as long as I am willing to be the butt of their jokes, as they all think I am weird in this food preference. They certainly won’t be expecting cucumber water from me!
we were just talking about flavored waters at a seminar yesterday and one was cucumber….
sounds like an interesting idea…I did try a orange basil that was very good!

At a hotel I’ve stayed at a couple times in Florida, they put a variety of citrus–lemon, lime, different types of oranges–in a similar water cooler in the lobby. It’s such a perfect welcome when you are checking in or anytime you are passing through the lobby. I generally get tired of lemon in water quickly but the mix of flavors in the citrus water was great. I am not sure I would like the cucumber plain, but perhaps I would. I also wonder if it would be good with lemon and/or orange WITH the cucumber?
The Costcos I’ve been to recently still have them, although it was a coupon item in June…

I am on the opposite Coast from you but they have it at my Costco. I just noticed last weekend and am going to pick it up for a barnyard themed party we are having this weekend for my two year old. Definitely going to add the Cucumber water to my menu list!
