Today I’m not making breakfast for dinner like I had originally planned. Instead we are doing something so much better – driving to Santa Barbara! Tonight we will be eating at Olio Pizzeria, which I’m certain will be better than pancakes. After spending a few days in Santa Barbara we will head down to Orange County. We are SO excited for this trip and will be sharing it with you as we go, especially since we have some great meals lined up!

Ford provided us with this awesome 2011 Explorer for the trip. We’ve borrowed cars for trips before, but this is our favorite. I fell in love as soon as I started driving. Nate felt the same way…after driving the car for the first time, he walked in the house and said, “That car is awesome.” It’s really too bad we have to give it back in a week. Maybe Ford will conveniently forget we have it. ;)
Here’s our menu for the week – gotta love vacation!
MONDAY:
- Aldo’s Italian Restaurant in Santa Barbara
TUESDAY:
- Lunch at Wine Cask in Santa Barbara
- Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, with a special tour of the kitchen with the chef!
WEDNESDAY:
- Huntington Beach Day…any suggestions?
THURSDAY:
- Newport Beach Day…any suggestions?
FRIDAY:
- Lunch at Cafe Orleans in Disneyland!
SATURDAY:
- Driving home
SUNDAY:
- Breakfast for dinner, for real this time…we’ll be home and I’m sure exhausted! I’m thinking pancakes will fit the bill.
Since I’m not offering any helpful dinner ideas this week, I’m counting on all of you to share your menus and inspire one another!

Hello! My name is Jane Maynard and you've landed yourself on my blog, This Week for Dinner™. Every Sunday I share a weekly menu...and then count on you to share your own! You'll also find other deliciousness that I hope you'll enjoy!

Have to go to Ruby’s at the end of pier at Huntington….for shrimp tacos and cherry cokes…divine!

I live in Newport Beach and there are a TON of wonderful things to do here!
I suggest a drive down to The Wedge, with the storms we have been having there will probably be some wonderful waves. A trip to Balboa Island is also a must – you can get a Frozen Banana at the place where it was created and it is filled with really cute shops and restaurants. If you are looking for something more athletic a trip to the Newport Aquatic Center in Newport Back Bay is great to get kayaks or paddle-boards. I also strongly suggest a trip to Crystal Cove – a meal at the Beachcomber is a MUST!
Enjoy your trip! Hope the weather gets better this week!
