Is it just me or is my bagel smiling at me?

Speaking of bagels, I could really use an east coast bagel right now. Or a steak and cheese. A good steak and cheese. California, while abundant in other delicious foods, is sorely lacking in the steak and cheese department. I have a feeling this pregnancy craving is one that will not be quenched…unless I get on a plane and head east. How desperate am I? Hmmmm…
MONDAY:
- Stuffed Peppers – I’m really hoping I can gear up and make these, we can have them for a few nights and they are so much better than boxed mac & cheese.
TUESDAY:
- Hoping leftover stuffed peppers
WEDNESDAY:
- My friend Nicole is bringing us dinner. She’s going straight to heaven.
THURSDAY:
- Spaghetti with meat sauce
FRIDAY:
- Eat out
SATURDAY:
- Homemade hamburgers
- Homemade french fries…at least, here’s hoping I get these made!
SUNDAY:
- Breakfast for dinner…waffles!
Now that the pregnant cat is out of the bag, I am being a little more realistic with my public menu plan. I’m really hoping I’ll feel normal again in a few weeks…until then, simplicity is the name of the game! Since I don’t have anything super exciting going on, I am counting on all of you to share your menus and inspire one another! Please share your menu for the week – whether it’s as simple and basic as mine or uber fancy, we love them all!

Hello! My name is Jane Maynard and you've landed yourself on my blog, This Week for Dinner™. Every Sunday I share a weekly menu...and then count on you to share your own! You'll also find other deliciousness that I hope you'll enjoy!

Hi! Been reading your blog for awhile now, but never commented.
Congrats on your pregnancy! I just had my first… she’s 4 months old today!! Time is flying. I feel like I’m just now getting used to juggling everything. Different than the “DINK” life (dual income, no kids), but I’m loving the change. She’s such a blessing and I love her more each day.
My dinner menu for the week:
Sunday – Bowtie Pasta Salad (a concoction I’ve made, w/broccoli, grape tomatoes, and bacon crumbles)
Monday – Chicken Quesadillas w/Mexican Rice
Tuesday – Spaghetti and meat sauce, side salad
Wednesday – Gyros w/cucumber sauce and crinkle fries
Thursday – Chicken Marsala, side caesar salads
Friday – Homemade Pepperoni Pizza
Saturday – Out
Sunday – Breakfast Tacos
enjoy every second with your little one…it goes SO FAST…and there’s something magical about that first baby, just you and her together. it’s the best!
I actually made a menu this week (with help from the kids but still)…I have been slacking…but anyway. I made one whoo hoo!
We just made a list of food we wanted to eat and made alist and shopped and bought everything.

Shepherd’s Pie
Mac & Spam (kids really like this)
Fish and Rice

Chili dogs (w/ leftover chili)
Ramen (the 4 year old picked this he he he)
And because I had the Ramen and Mac and Spam and Roast on hand we only spent about 70 bucks.
Oh ya about making dinners while pregnant I spaced them out. So like the hamburgers I made them in the morning and they were ready at night??? Then made sure we had lots of leftovers the rest of the week. ha ha
Chicken Enchiladas are easy too. If you give up on Peppers or Burgers.
that’s a good idea…I generally get sicker as the day wears on, so maybe I can get my act together earlier in the day. will try to keep that in mind! thanks!!!

You can try B-Natal suckers from the pharmacy. I got them at CVS. Had to get them from the pharmacist, but didn’t need a prescription. But, hey, I was on serious anti-nausea medicine and still you-know-whated 24 hours a day and lost lots of weight with a hospital visit each pregnancy. So, you could also just ignore the suggestion (I ignored most people when they told me the old standby suggestions….you think I hadn’t tried everything people?) Anyways, good luck, and it will get better! If not soon, then when you get to kiss some new, sweet, baby cheeks!
love your comment…made me laugh, because, yes, people are always giving advice, and as you know, usually doesn’t work! but I must admit I haven’t gotten the secret b-natal suckers from the pharmacist, so maybe I’ll just give it a try!

Sunday: Chicken Sausage with plum tomatoes over spaghetti
Monday: Roasted chicken, broccoli and brown rice with celery

Have a great week. I love the idea posted earlier about doing a lot of dinner prep early in the day when you’re feeling good. I’m nowhere near pregnant, but I sometimes try to do that while my kids are doing homework. That way when we get home from the shuttle stops, a lot of the stuff is ready to go. I lose a LOT of steam about 5:00-5:30.
Shannon in Tustin, CA
Hi Jane,
Lovely site. My Mom made menus and I have been carrying on the tradition – even though my family thinks I am anal. It is a huge time-saver for me, since I have all of the ingredients I need for the week.
This week:
Sunday: PEI Lobster Chowder – really easy with frozen, canned lobster from “Out of Old Nova Scotia Kitchens” Cookbook.
Monday: Moroccan Stew
Tuesday: Tortellini with Tomato Basil Sauce and Caesar Salad
Wednesday: Butter Chicken (Jar of Sauce), Basmati Rice, Naan Bread and Green Beans
Thursday: Crockpot – Down East Corn Chowder (From Mable Hoffman’s Crockery Cookery) Soda Bread
Friday: Tuna Curry and Basmati Rice with Peas. Another easy recipe from an Australian Church cookbook.
Looking forward to seeing what other people eat in a week!
Well Jane, hope you don’t mind, but I’m living this pregnancy vicariously through you – so keep all the stories coming! I loved being pregnant, the good and the bad bits, because it all meant my little person was growing, growing, growing! Hope you get your hands on ALL that you crave!
Anyway – onto this weeks menu:
M: Wedding Anniversary Steak, Chips and Salad
T: Beef & Mushroom Pie **new recipe**
W: Slow-Cooker Apricot Chicken
T: Minestrone with Crusty Bread
F: Stop… Freezer Time! (breaks down MC Hammer Style)
S: BBQ Leftovers (having friends over for BBQ lunch)
