Today’s recipe involves drinking butter. Yep, you heard me. We are going to drink butter. And it’s going to be awesome.

Every time I make bread pudding, I want to drink the milk mixture that goes into the recipe. So today I whipped up a variation of that milk mixture and drank it. And just like that ‘hot vanilla’ was born! (Okay, okay, maybe not born. I did a google search and turns out hot vanilla is not new, but whatever. I’m just pretending google doesn’t exist.)

I am officially a fan of hot vanilla, especially my version (I know, so humble). It’s sweet, has a nice cinnamon-vanilla flavor, and the butter gives it a silky, almost-savory twist. Perfect for a cold winter day!
Here’s to drinking butter!

Well, I didn’t know about hot vanilla! Sounds awesome, I’ll have to try it!
This is a new one for me too, but I love hot drinks in cold weather!
Yum, I will have to try this one tonight!
That sounds so rich, comforting and just heavenly on a cold day!
Oh my goodness – I love the thought of hot vanilla! YUM!
I’ve made this before, although without the butter. Will have to try it that way. I’ve also made it with almond flavoring instead of vanilla. Delicious either way!
love the almond flavoring idea – sounds awesome!
Just made this….DELISH!!!
yea! glad you made it and that it was delish!
I didn’t do a google search for Vanilla Milk, but I recognized the recipe as soon as I read the ingredients. My mother used to make this for me when I *had a sore throat. She always told me the butter was to help the milk slide down my throat. Wonderfull memories, and wonderful drink.
awwww, love that!!!!
Hey i don’t mind drinking butter AT ALL. Not one bit. So this Hot Vanilla recipe is right up my alley
We buy vanilla syrup (like you put in lattes) at the grocery store, heat up milk and put it in there and call it hot vanilla. This definitely sounds more decadent!
this may be more decadent, but your way also sounds so quick and easy…and still delish! will have to remember that
Just look delicious. I ate vanilla ice cream. But haven’t try this hot vanilla. Just wanna try
My husband will be thrilled about this! I always tease him that “vanilla is not a flavor.” Of course I know it is, but it’s fun to see him get worked up. “If it wasn’t a flavor, they’d call it plain!” This will be the perfect peace offering.
so funny!
so glad I could bring peace to your home.
I think this is the closest I’ll ever get to the Three Broomstick’s Butter Beer
so funny you should say that, I was thinking the same thing as I was writing about it!
and seriously, every time they drank butter beer in the books I wanted to go to the three broomsticks so bad!
Can’t wait to try this!
my husband and i just tried this and he won’t stop talking about it. “what is this?” can you make more?!”
that’s the kind of feedback I love to hear – yea!
Is it bad that as soon as you said drink butter I thought of Big Bang where they went to the artic and Sheldon was trying to get them to drink butter? This sounds way better than that.
ha ha! that’s funny it’s the first thing you thought of…and I guarantee this is better!
Along these lines, I recently discovered Torani flavored syrups. My favorite drink right now is plain old milk, heated up, with a bit of the sugar-free Hazelnut syrup, topped with a sprinkling of pumpkin pie spice. It’s SOOOO good! And not even unhealthy!
I’ll have to try that for sure!!!
I just wanted you to know you’re not alone on the whole bread pudding sauce epiphany, then thinking you’ve invented something new, only to have your bubble popped by the Internet thing. I feel better about drinking butter now.
glad we are not alone! and enjoy drinking your butter
I just made this and it was delicious!!!! I am dairy-free so I used original almond milk and earth balance spread instead of butter but MAN it was sooo good! thank you!
glad you liked it, and thanks for sharing those modifications which I’m sure would be helpful for those who need dairy-free!
