Remember my big long knife post when I rambled on and on about knives and it was awesome? Well, I have a quick update…and a giveaway! Woo-hoo!
First off, if you haven’t read the first knife post, please do! In that post, one of the things I mention is getting your knives professionally sharpened regularly unless you really know what you’re doing (which I didn’t). WELLLLLL…Edgeware recently sent me their Manual Adjustable Sharpener. I love this thing. You can adjust the angle of the sharpener so that you know you are properly sharpening your knife’s edge to the original factory angle. It was time for my knives to be sharpened again – I used this sharpener and it was fabulous. I even used the serrated slot for my serrated knife, which in all honesty made me totally nervous…but my serrated knife is cutting better than it has in ages! Another thing I love is the non-stick base…the sharpener does not move when I am using it.

The “fine” slot is for honing and makes that task easy and quick…and again, you can set the angle to where it should be, so you know your knife is being properly honed. Now that I have this sharpener, I’ve been much more consistent with honing my knives before every use, which makes my knives very happy. (See my original knife post to read more about the difference between sharpening and honing.)

I stand by the statement in my original knife post that you should get your knives sharpened regularly (how often you use your knife will determine how often you need to sharpen your knives). BUT I now feel comfortable doing it myself! Yippee! Here’s to happy, healthy knives in the comfort of my own home!

As you know, I like to share the love, so we are giving away an Edgeware Manual Adjustable Sharpener ($39.95) available exclusively at Williams Sonoma, along with the Yellow Fine Grater ($16.99), available on Amazon. (Prize must be shipped within the U.S.) P.S. The grater is cool, too! It’s nice and wide, which makes for easy chocolate and cheese grating.

Hello! My name is Jane Maynard and you've landed yourself on my blog, This Week for Dinner™. Every Sunday I share a weekly menu...and then count on you to share your own! You'll also find other deliciousness that I hope you'll enjoy!

So Cool! We are terrible about sharpening our knives… sound like this would make the task a breeze!
I have never had my knives professionally done! Hubby does the sharpening… but, they never seem to do a great job. Thought it was just me… But, then we received this knife (I think it’s called Chicago Cutlery) And, that baby cuts everything! Tomatoes… like nothing! When I am slicing & dicing that is my go to!
I just never thought about having my knives professionally sharpened. Then again, I grew up with cheap knives that we used for pretty much anything. I received my first “quality” knife for Christmas. Wow, what a difference!
Great blog! Well written, and very interesting. Thanks!
Having sharp knives makes a world of difference in the kitchen!! I am always amazed at how much easier it is to slice and dice!!
never had a knife sharpener but I love any kitchen gadget I can get my hands on!
Oh how I would love this sharpener. I have some really great knives and this would help me keep them in great shape.
The hubs and I were looking at different sharpeners, but haven’t picked one yet, this one looks awesome!

My husband would LOVE this sharpener!
love you site, keep up the good work.
You’re so right about regularly sharpening your knives! Thanks for having the giveaway.
Oops, forgot… Then a couple months ago I, received these little pink & black pairing knives from Sur La Table (my grandmother saw them on sale & thought they were soo cute!). It was a sm pairing knife, sm serrated knife & this big spatula knife by Khun Rikon (I don’t see the set but they have individual ones ($10-$20). Let me warn you they are SUPER sharp! I just touched one (wanted to see the difference) & it cut my finger! Hubby was cutting with them just last night (he has never used them) & almost cut his finger! He is used to the old knives. So, I now use these pretty pink knives or my Chicago cutlery santoku knife. (I think I saw them in walmart a couple weeks ago… so they can’t be that expensive). But, knowing I could get all my knives like that! YEAH!
Oooo! Knives! I need some knives. I’m getting my first apartment next month and starting my kitchen. Can’t wait.
Great giveaway! That sharpener would get sooooo much use here & as much as I love my Microplane, a wider grater would be helpful, especially for chocolate.
Oh my husband wOuld be over the moon with something like this!
Great giveaway!!

I LOVE that there is a serrated knife option, our steak knives are serrated and I felt like I was going to have to have them professionally sharpened because of it!

That sharpener looks fantastic! We have one but it’s difficult to use (I make my husband sharpen the knives because I can’t do it) so I’d love to have one that I can use too!
