Hi there. I can’t believe it’s time to plan another menu…here we go!

week 397 weekly dinner menu from @janemaynard including FREE printable meal plan and shopping list

So, I completely underestimated what an interruption to normal life repiping our house would be this past week. I didn’t cook once. We’re almost back to normal now and I actually am cooking this afternoon, which will be nice! Needless to say, lots of repeats on my menu this week from last. (For those of you in California and Nevada, if you are ever in need of repiping your home, see below for info on the company we used.*)

    - Happy Labor Day!
    - Hot dogs & hamburgers on the grill

    TUESDAY:

    - Fresh fruit and carrot sticks

    FRIDAY:

Your turn! Share your menu for the week, pretty please with a cherry on top!

*Repiping info for California and Nevada folks: Repipe 1 was the company we used and they were fantastic. Their prices are phenomenal, they are super organized and timely, and the customer service has been great. I highly recommend them. The only issue we had was with the crew that patched up our walls. I won’t go into the too much detail, but the biggest issue was that they should have done a much better job putting plastic over our belongings, which ended up being a major headache for me. The company was quick to respond, however, and offered to come out and help clean everything (which I declined in the end and just did it myself). Even with a few hiccups on patch day, I still highly recommend them.

    Week 396 Menu

    EmailPinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+StumbleUpon

Happy Sunday! As I mentioned on Friday, we have a leak in our house. No one can find it. Not the leak detector. Not the plumber. We know there’s a leak because of the CRAZY LOUD RUSHING WATER NOISE IN OUR WALLS tell us there is. Also, the water meter is spinning. I won’t go into details, but the bottom line is we have to re-pipe the house tomorrow. The bad news…it’s the day before school and we’ll be out a few thousand dollars. The good news…we don’t have a flooded house (yet!) AND we will have beautiful new pipes in our walls. It’s all good.

    Week 394 Menu

    EmailPinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+StumbleUpon

Happy Sunday! Last night I took Cate to her first concert! She beat me by six years, by the way. We saw Sara Bareilles and the show was great. Sara Bareilles is funny, witty, charming and her voice is unreal. Cate said it was “loud” but also admitted that she had fun. Such a cutie. Little Anna is completely jealous and has watched the few little video clips I took of the concert over and over again, singing along to all the words. She’s a cutie, too.

I’m traveling to Oregon Wednesday through Friday this week to visit the Tillamook farm and cheese factory. I’m SUPER excited. I’ll be gone a couple nights, so Cate helped me plan what they’re going to eat the nights when I’m gone.

Week 391 Menu + Dinner at Veladora

    EmailPinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+StumbleUpon

Hello! We are home from vacation and I am getting back into the cooking groove! After such a long break I am actually really looking forward to it.

review of veladora restaurant by @janemaynard

Before we get to this week’s dinner plans, I need to tell you about the dinner that Nate and I had last night. Today is our 15th wedding anniversary (TIME FLIES! Happy anniversary, Nate!). Last night Veladora at the Rancho Valencia hotel in Rancho Santa Fe hosted us for dinner to celebrate. There are no words for how wonderful our evening was, but I’m going to give it a try! (Seriously, in the time it took for us to drive off the hotel property we must have said, “That dinner was awesome!” twenty times.) First of all, the food. Ahhh, the food. Nate ordered prime rib cap and I was treated to scallops. Both dishes were unreal. The rib cap was a beautiful cut of meat cooked to perfection, and my scallops were paired with three different corn sides that complemented the scallops beautifully. All of the food we had was wonderful, right down to the 18-year old balsamic vinegar for dipping the focaccia. Chef Matt came out to meet us at the end of our meal and it was so interesting talking with him about the food, how the menu is developed and modified with the seasons, as well as his own career path. Beyond the food, the serving staff was stellar and the restaurant itself was beautiful. The best part was that, despite the high caliber of the restaurant, we felt comfortable and relaxed, thanks to both the setting and the staff. Oh, and they gave us a little gift on the way out the door that was, of course, a tasty treat. It was truly the perfect way to celebrate our latest life milestone. Thank you, Veladora, for a night we will not soon forget.

Despite the fact that I pretty much don’t want to eat any other food ever after Veladora, real life dictates that I still have to feed my family. So, back to the weekly menu!

    Week 390 Menu

    EmailPinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+StumbleUpon

Hi everyone! I’m getting a late start today after a very long night with our little Owen and another bout of croup. He’s doing well now, but pretty much everyone in the family feels like a zombie. Happy vacation to us! ;)

This is our last week of traveling, so no menu for us once again! But I’ll be back in the game next week. I really appreciate everyone who has been loyally posting menus the last few weeks while I’ve been taking time off from the kitchen. Your dinner plans are wonderful and a great inspiration to everyone.

So, here we go…my weekly beg for your menus! Please share your dinner plans for the week!

    Week 389 Menu

    EmailPinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+StumbleUpon

Happy belated Fourth of July! On Friday night my parent’s neighbors shot off a bunch of totally awesome {most definitely illegal} fireworks at their house, so we enjoyed a show right from my parents’ porch. Then on Saturday night we went to Vernon Township, New Jersey for their show put on by the local fire department. I’ve been going to big city fireworks shows for so many years that I forgot how wonderful a small town show is. It was perfect in so many ways.

    fireworksFireworks from the back porch!

I have a kinda-sorta-menu this week! I’m not going to get all fancy with a PDF and stuff because it’s not a particularly helpful menu for anyone, but at least it’s on paper, right? ;)

    MONDAY:
    - Fondue night! (We’re going to try making fondue with the kids, I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes!)

    TUESDAY:
    - Taco night

    WEDNESDAY:
    - Chicken and hot dogs on the grill
    - Corn on the cob and fresh fruit

    THURSDAY:

Your turn! Please pretty please with a cherry on top share your menu for the week! We need your inspiration!

    EmailPinterestFacebookTwitterGoogle+StumbleUpon

Hi, everyone! Still on vacation, still not planning a menu! We are having a great time here on the East Coast and, as usual, it’s almost shocking how green it is out here. We definitely miss all these trees. I’m going to share some of our food finds with you this week, but for today just a quick snap of sunset over Mount Monadnock.

You know the drill…please share your menu for the week! I need you to inspire one another since I’m a useless vacationer!
