Week 155 Menu

I started a 10-week photography gig this past week for a big food company. Fun, huh? Yesterday while I was shooting one of the recipes, Cate was putting together a lovely dish of her own. She was telling me that she had just started a new job where she needs to cook and take pictures. Oh, and since we are both earning more money, we can now sit in the front of the airplane. It was so sweet…and funny. Here is her creation, Townhouse Crackers with red grapes, poultry seasoning and black pepper.

Now that I’ve made my new years resolution public, I have to stick with it! Nearly all of my recipes this week are meatless, or use leftover meat from another meal. So far so good! Eating out is going to be interesting. Nate picked up some burritos for lunch yesterday and we split one veggie and one carnitas between us. That’s already 50% less meat then we normally we would have eaten at the same lunch. I’m feeling good about it. Slow and steady.

Please share your menus for the week! As always, plain and fancy are welcome.  And please don’t feel pressure to do vegetarian meals…if you’re eating meat, I still want to know about it! Like I said, we’re not cutting meat completely, so I still want the ideas, meat free or not!  Have a happy week!


  1. Yum. The soup sounds delicious! Can’t wait to see it.

    Monday – (Repurposed) fish tacos with guacamole, mango salsa and Spanish rice.

    Tuesday РPit beef sandwiches, onion rings, saut̩ed green beans

    Wednesday – Potato leek soup and whole wheat brioche from Healthy Bread in 5

    Thursday – Chicken fried rice, Ahi tuna pot stickers

    Friday – Southwestern pulled brisket (I knew this was going on the menu right after I saw Deb post it), using the extra shells from the fish taco night with vegetables aplenty to go along with it.

  6. My first week menu!!! Now that I have a husband to cook for and our own place and now a fridge (that we have been waiting on for over a month) I can finally start planning meals!!! I am working alot of overtime at work lately so Saturdays is my menu planning/ grocery shopping day so my menu is Sun – Sat…

    Sunday – Ribeye with sauteed mushrooms
    Monday – Tacos with chips and homemade salsa
    Tuesday – Beef stroganoff
    Wednesday – leftovers
    Thursday – Salmon with honey mustard glaze
    Friday – Spaghetti
    Saturday – Cheese and chocolate fondue

    Monday – Chicken hot pot
    Tuesday – Homemade pesto pasta (the basil we are growing is going crazy)
    Wednesday – Steak sandwiches with homegrown beetroot and horseradish
    Thursday – Nacho’s
    Friday – Thai Beef Salad
    Saturday – Ricotta, rocket and tomato pasta (a call this a summer pasta as all that is cooked is the pasta)
    Sunday – Chinese spice pork spare ribs

    Plus this week sometime I am going to attempt to make chocolate panacotta

    Tuesday – out or pasta (late meeting)
    Wednesday – Satay wraps with lean ground turkey
    Thursday – roasted flank steak w/sweet potatoes

    Not sure about the weekend yet, will figure out as the week progresses.

    You are all making me hungry. Jane, or anyone else, do you have tips for juggling baby, picky toddler, and a husband who works late? It seems like the weeks I plan a great menu everything falls apart.

  17. I was a MAJOR slacker last week. Not feeling well and the nacho cheese at Taco Bell was about all I could taste. SO, my menu kind of repeats this week.

    Monday-Cheesy Corn Chowder
    Tuesday-Baked Chicken Meatballs
    Wednesday-Scrambled eggs, bacon, jalapeno cheddar scones
    Thursday-Pork chops with creamy chicken rice side
    Friday-Ritzy chicken over rice
    Saturday-Ritzy chicken over rice-so much better the second day around!

    I love Cate’s creation…. I also think it is so funny that she knows it costs more to sit in the front of the airplane… I am traveling this week and have the special chance to be in business class – oh how will I ever go back to the back of the plane. I just try not to think about it!

    I am in Brazil – should have some interesting and different meals but from what I know about Brazil probably not meatless…

    Mon: Indian Chicken made with Patak’s Curry Paste, Naan from Wegmans
    Tues: pasta & spag. sauce from a jar (library night, need something easy!)
    Wed: cochinita (shredded pork, Mexican style) in corn tortillas with pickled red onions (Cochinita has been frozen)
    Thurs: Lemon Chicken – using my new favorite Aldi find: chicken tenderlions! These are cheaper than buying chicken breasts, AND I do not have to clean them and bag them up before freezing!)
    Fri: take out (pizza)
    Sat: Make Your Own Subs

    Still no crockpot, so I had to do more last-minute tweaking to my weekly plan. I am looking for one of those crockpots that you can take out the insert and also use it on the stovetop for browning. I hoped to pick up one locally this weekend but couldn’t find one. I guess I’ll have to order one.

  32. Wow! I am now hungry and feel like a total slacker. A menu for a whole week? I’m not even sure if I can make it through today!

    Today: Bagel w/cream cheese, tomato, onion. Pear cobbler. (Hopefully something else, but no clue what!)

    Tomorrow maybe I’ll make some scones. You can totally live on scones for a week, right?

    Sun- Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf (from
    Mon- Cheesy Chicken Shells (weight watchers recipe)
    Tues- Easy and Delicious Turkey Breast
    1 turkey breast (thawed)
    15 oz can whole cranberry sauce
    1 envelope dry onion soup mix
    1/2 cup OJ
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper
    Place turkey in crockpot. Combine reminaing ingredients; pour over turkey. cover and cook on low 6-8 hrs.
    Wed- Breakfast for dinner
    Thurs- Orange Chicken from Trader Joes
    Fri- out to dinner
    Sat- Steak salad

    i’m a virgin sharer but have a very good plan this week so thought i’d share:
    monday: pan-seared tilapia and spaghetti squash with mushrooms and oven-drived grape tomatoe ragu
    tuesday: spinach linguine with salmon, ricotta, arugula, toasted pine nuts and lemon ginger olive oil drizzle
    wednesday: curried cauliflower soup and salad
    thursday: tortilla pie
    friday: leftovers and then drive to the beach for a cold, but away, MLK weekend!

    @Kiasa – I have a hard time following a Mon-Fri menu because I have a hubby that works military shift work, I homeschool, and I’m a full-time college student as well. I have found that when I plan a weeks worth of meals but don’t assign a day to them, I have freedom to choose what works best for that day, but I have everything on hand to make any of those meals. I usually plan a few fresh-produce based meals, a few meals that can be pulled out of the freezer or pantry, and one that is a good meal for having company. I keep a list on the fridge of the meals we have on hand and cross them off when we have them. I hope you find something that works for you and your family!
