Happy Friday! It’s been a few weeks since the last Show and Tell and it’s fun to be back. I love sharing links!
First, Netflix. There are two shows we must discuss.
#1: The Great British Baking Show. Over the last few months I’ve frequently seen articles about how everyone loves The Great British Baking Show on PBS, and yet I resisted. It’s like when the Harry Potter books came out, I didn’t buy into the hype. In fact, I fought the hype. But when I finally gave in, well, I realized it wasn’t hype because Harry Potter is the greatest thing of all time. My experience with The Great British Baking Show has been similar. While nothing can be like Harry Potter, I will admit that this PBS baking show from Britain is 100% completely lovable and addictive and lives up to the hype. The first season is on Netflix, so Nate and I turned it on while wrapping presents on Christmas Eve. We were hooked after the first episode. It’s a great show. My only question is, why so much sponge cake, British people? There is so much sponge cake on this show. Copious amounts of sponge cake. As the saying goes, if you like sponge cake, you’ll love The Great British Baking Show. (You’ll still love the show even if you don’t like sponge cake, by the way.)
#2: Making a Murderer. Like Serial, Making a Murderer has taken the world by storm. If you haven’t watched it yet, prepare to not only be addicted but angered and perplexed and sad ALL THE TIME. I know, that doesn’t make it seem like I’m trying to get you to watch it, but I am. Really. Watch it. Just make sure you’re ready to stay up late and be a zombie for about a week.

Haha we are on the same wavelength! Last week, we watched Making a Murder in 4 days total then made the mistake of immediately starting the Great British Baking show (having NO idea that it was so addictive) and finished that in another 4 days! My brain has officially turned to spongey rubbish (with a major legal crush on a certain Dean Strang!)
haha! glad I am not alone out there…and since you’re a lawyer, it makes all the sense in the world that you are in love with dean strang (although I know the rest of the world is in love, too, lawyers or not!) 😉
I am right there with you on Making of a Murderer!! I’m almost done, and am loving it. I have to limit myself to one episode a night (on “school nights”) or I’ll be up all night. Angry, perplexed, and sad are the perfect mix of emotions.
During one of the press conference scenes, I did a double take. I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH ONE OF THE REPORTERS!!!!!!! I emailed him immediately for confirmation. Yup, sure enough. It has made my viewing experience even better.

I have Making of a Murderer on my Netflix radar, but haven’t had time to “get addicted” and I KNOW that will happen. Then I’m up to 2AM every night until I get thru a binge-worthy series.
I’ve not heard of The Great British Baking Show. I think I may check it out before Making of a Murderer even though sponge cake if definitely not my thing!
LOVE both of these shows! My husband and I made the mistake of binging the first four episodes of MAM in one night. We just couldn’t turn it off! We finished the series last night and all I can say is it definitely let me frustrated and sad. It really shook my confidence in the legal system.
I haven’t seen the entire season of The Great British Baking Show, but caught an episode on PBS a while back. Maybe it’s the thought of baking in a glamped out kitchen tent, or the charm of Mary Berry, but I fell in love. So glad I can watch the whole season on Netflix! The did have an American version on ABC I watched during the holiday season, called The Great Holiday baking show. The format was the same and Mary Berry was a judge, but everyone else was different.
My 13 year old is hooked on MAM these days (he wants to be a judge someday) and he is going crazy trying not to spoil it for me until I can get hooked too and we can discuss it! Hopefully soon! The cooking show sounds really fun too! Sure wish there were more hours in each day. ;P
