I finally have a Thanksgiving menu plan put together (with the help of my friends who we’ll be eating with). Can’t wait to see what you will all be eating this Thursday as well!
This is a picture of our turkey from last year. We cooked the turkey in an oiled paper bag and it came out nicely. Click here to read more about this technique.
Here’s our menu for this year. We’re going to be eating with two families on Thursday and are dividing the cooking tasks, so I don’t have to do it all this year. Yea!
– Turkey & Gravy
– Mashed potatoes
– Stuffing
– Cranberry sauce
– Cranberry slush
– Broccoli casserole
– Sweet Potato souffle
– Green salad
– Rolls
– Desserts: pumpkin pie, apple cranberry pie and something chocolate
Please share your Thanksgiving menu!
If you’re looking for the usual weekly menus, please click here! (I put up two posts today…sorry if it’s confusing!)

I got my post up early for the new pie recipe. Here is the link: Flat Cranberry Apple Pie
It is so good and easier than a traditional pie!
We’re hosting 18 but my mom does most of it–in my kitchen! We are also leaving town for the weekend for another family celebration. SO, we scaled it back a bit this year in order to have less food leftover.

We scaled back this year because we’re getting tired of having SOO many leftovers and eating them for so long after.
Appetizers:
Oysters on 1/2 shell
Relish plate
Main:
Brined & deep fried turkey
Roasted garlic & blue cheese mashed potatoes
Giblets gravy
Roasted asparagus w/ lemon brown butter glaze
Cesar salad
Cranberry orange relish
Family recipe jello salad
Roasted chestnut & sausage dressing
Classic yeast rolls
Dessert:
Pumpkin pie
Pecan pie
Rum whipped cream for pies
Okay, looking at this menu, for 4 adults, a 5 year old (who doesn’t eat) and a 9 month old (who eats more than her brother), it seems like an awful lot. LOL. Yes, we are scaling back, the only portion size that will stay the same is the Turkey (that’s one leftover no one gets tired of) and the jello salad (don’t really know how to make a smaller recipe). But, the pies are much smaller, we’ll make 1/2 as much as we usually do of the mashed potatoes, gravy, and dressing, rolls. Basically, rather than cooking for a party of 10, we’re cooking for a party of 5 (except the 20# turkey).
I forgot to add copious amounts of wine to the menu. LOL. That’s one of the traditions is to have a glass of wine in hand throughout the entire cooking process. That and vodka with the oysters.
I think I have enough to feed an army, but we’re only having 10 people…
