Crisco has a 64-oz bottle of canola oil that I love. It’s not the oil that I love, although the oil is fine. Nevertheless, I do love this bottle of oil. And I just bought my second one this week without even looking at the price or comparing to other brands. So, why do I love this bottle of oil so much?
The “Simple Measures” cap and spout are ingenius. It’s like a laundry soap bottle, where the oil that drips off the cap goes back into the bottle, instead of all over the outside, thereby avoiding that oily, disgusting mess you usually find on a bottle of oil. The cap itself has measurements on the side, which is also helpful…but really, it’s the construction of the cap and spout that makes my heart go all a-flutter.
Crisco has been making this bottle for a while. No real news here. And I have no connection to Crisco whatsoever. This is just a simple declaration of love…yes, for an oil bottle. Happy day-after-Valentine’s Day!
I guess I don’t ever buy oil in such massive quantities, as I have never seen that amazing work of genius! Whichever Crisco employee that out that one together should be rewarded. Heavily! That is really smart. Now, I’m sure we can think of some other things that would benefit from the same type of super spout. This work of genius can’t possibly be limited to oil and laundry detergents alone………. How about: milk (I loathe the dried milk crumbles that form under the container in my fridge)
I’m am with you 100%! There must be lots of other products that would benefit. First off, all oil bottles should be this way! How about syrup? Salad Dressing? I’m sure I can think of more… 🙂
I was thinking syrup too. That sticky mess is a nightmare.
that is brilliant. I might get one and put my costco olive oil in it after the crisco is gone. thanks for the heads up
I started buying this bottle a few years ago. It’s amazing how small things can make a big difference in the kitchen. My friend thought I was crazy for buying it until she tried it one day. I will never go back!
I usually buy the smaller bottles of Crisco and it has to be Crisco. Other brands always drip down the side. I’ve never noticed the large bottle before and you’ve convinced me to try it.
Why has it taken this long for them to follow the laundry detergents? You would think this would be a no-brainer!
If I fried more foods I’d be all over this bottle, then I could re-use it for something I love like olive oil! Why they don’t make more bottles like this I’ll never know!
I have to admit, I didn’t use up my last bottle before the oil turned…but I got through most of it and I didn’t even care, because the bottle is valuable! 🙂
What an ingenious idea! This could work for anything that pours out of a bottle.
🙂 Mandy
What a great idea! I definitely need to check this one out!
Not only is this great for the no-drip mess, but I hate when I’m measuring out oil for a recipe & the measuring cup is left all slimy – even after it’s been rinsed. And half the time after the oil cup has been run through the dishwasher it still feels kinda slimy. How wonderful to never have to dirty another measuring cup for oil!
amen to that! hate the greasy cup AFTER washing…so annoying!
