Week 115 Menu

I planted my first tomato plant yesterday, which I am very excited about! The tomatoes will be grape-sized, sweet and yellow…assuming I don’t kill the plant.  I can’t wait to eat them!

Yeah, I know, I have repeats on the menu this week. I didn’t do as much cooking last week as I had planned. Although, we only ate out once. I’m not entirely sure WHAT we had for dinner every night…I know we ate food. Anyway, it has just been one of those weeks…I was swamped with work (which I’m grateful for!) and Nate was beyond swamped, at one point working for 24 hours straight.  YIKES!

– Meatball Subs

Grammy’s Orange Chicken
– Brown rice & Salad

– Waffles or some other easy breakfasty food

– Leftovers

– Eat out

Chicken Piccata
– Pasta or Garlic Mashed Potatoes
– Salad

– Pork chops on the grill
– Wild Rice (yes, from a Rice-a-Roni box!)
– Veggie

    Congrats on your tomato planting, I’m still afraid of frost here in Kansas this week. Hopefully it won’t be too long now though!
    And by the way, I just want to say how helpful it is to take 5 minutes to plan out a week’s menu. Grocery shopping is much easier and more purposeful and much less food goes to waste!

    This week’s menu:

    – Ham, apple and blue cheese Panini
    – Tortilla Chips and roasted tomatillo salsa

    – Chicken and Rice Casserole

    – Southwestern Turkey Burgers
    – oven-bake french fries

    – Eat Out

    – Chicken Parmesan

    I can’t wait til we can plant some vegetables and herbs in our little garden. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow!

    Monday: Balsamic glazed portabellas, spinach pesto gnocchi, salad
    Tuesday: Pork loin, risotto, green beans
    Wednesday: Pasta melanzana (with eggplant and spinach)
    Thursday: Turkey sloppy joes, oven fries, carrots
    Friday: Leftovers or pizza
    Saturday: Fajita nachos
    Sunday: Easter dinner TBD

    I keep forgetting most of you out there actually experience WEATHER. I need to really appreciate my california living…planting tomato plants when it’s snowing and frosting elsewhere. I’ll think good weather thoughts for you all! 🙂

  5. Haven’t quite figured out the days yet, but we will be eating:

    Cucumber Garlic Chicken, Jasmine Rice
    Flank Steak Fajitas
    Homemade Pizza and Salad
    Sloppy Joes (from Deceptively Delicious)
    Leftovers once or twice
    Date night!

  6. Good luck with your tomato! Still have to wait a few more weeks here for planting them. But we’ve gotten asparagus, rhubarb, blueberrie bushes, strawberries, lettuce, and peas planted. Some are just seeds. Hope everything makes it!

    Thursday: Mandarin Chicken and Fried Rice
    Friday: Chicken Curry and Rice Pilaf and Mint Chutney
    Saturday: Eat Out!
    Sunday: Left Overs 🙂

    Next Sunday will be Easter dinner with ham steaks, homemade bread, “funeral” potatoes and a fresh veggie (whatever looks good when I’m standing in the produce section).

    I haven’t assigned meals to days for the rest of the week, but here’s my list:
    steak fajitas, guacamole & chips, southwestern corn
    penne with Italian sausage & creamy tomato sauce
    curry soup, rolls, twice-baked sweet potatoes
    homemade pizza, salad
    chicken fingers, cornbread, veggie
    poached halibut, saffron rice, veggie

    Tues: Tuna & Tomato Pasta
    Wed: Salad Night: Organic Salad, Vegan Potato Salad, chicken salad on croissants
    Th: Chicken w/ Roasted Sweet Potato Salad
    Fri: Pizza or Chinese Take Out
    Sat&Sun: Visiting Family for Easter

    M: I have to work that afternoon, but I put a frozen chicken pot pie in the fridge for my DH to pop in the oven
    T: Fish Tacos with big spring green salad
    W: Leftovers
    Th: Possible bowls of cereal…it’s breakfast night and I’m uninspired
    F: DH in charge
    S: Grilled Burgers after the fireman B-Day bash (Happy Birthday to my 6 year old!!!)
    S: Easter —- Eating at my Mother in Laws—I’m bringing the world’s cutest kids (all dressed up) and the Angel Food Cake

    We got snow yesterday in Utah, so no garden planting yet. I can’t wait though!

    M-Homemade veggie soup

    W-Salad of some sort
    Th-Seared tuna with veggies
    F-Homemade whole wheat/veggie pizza

    My first time to post here. I love your site! I get so many great ideas. Here’s my plan for the week:

    Mon – Chili leftovers
    Tues – Apple puff pancake
    Wed – Creamy orzo with grilled chicken
    Thurs – Broccoli noodle supreme
    Fri – Meatloaf (Deceptively Delicious)
    Sat – Crockpot chicken
    Sun – Easter meal with family

    Here is my list for the week. This helps me to be more disciplined. Yeah!
    M – Leftovers (Spaghetti)
    T- Parmesan Tilapia with Mash potatoes & veggie
    W- Turkey Chili (Robin Miller recipe) with veggie crudite and cornbread
    Th- Leftovers
    Fr – SW lasagna (morph recipe from chili recipe) w/Salad and Fr Bread
    Sa- Chicken Fajitas with rice/beans
    Sun- Easter Brunch out & dinner Ch Corn Chowder soup with sandwiches

    Tuesday- Daughter’s choice for b-day: roast beef, mashed potatoes & gravy with steamed vegetables
    Wednesday- Leftovers

    Sunday- Easter dinner w/ extended family

    Ah tomatoes … I just defrosted and we enjoyed the very last batch of marinara sauce made from last summer’s tomatoes this past weekend. YUM. Nothing like a fresh home grown tomato.

    We move on April 30 into a new house (all of 1.5 miles from the current house but 1,000 more square feet – much needed with the new baby and all her stuff!!)…so I’m now on a mission to eat everything from our freezer and pantry so it’s less to move & pack. We will do our best!

    Monday: pizza (I know, crazy on a Monday right?)
    Tuesday: lasagna from freezer, green salad
    Wednesday: Bistro Chicken, rice, steamed spinach
    Thursday: more lasagna
    Friday: family in for the weekend – sloppy joes & oven baked fries, also maybe sweet potato fries (not very “Good Friday”-esque but it works for a crowd)
    Saturday: roast beef in crock pot, buttery noodles, veggie
    Sunday: traditional ham dinner for Easter (ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, baked beans, applesauce … warm biscuits)

    Monday: mac & cheese (from freezer) & steamed broccoli
    Tuesday: spinach salads with soup or sandwiches
    Wednesday: BBQ chicken sandwiches & broccoli salad
    Thursday: pasta with sausage & spinach
    Friday: sweet & sour chicken over rice

    Sunday – grilled burgers, hot dogs, peppers & pineapple, fixins, green salad, fries and sweet potatoes fries too, brownies (Costco) and ice cream.

    Monday – Spaghetti, salad, bread,
    Tuesday – Moussaka, artichokes
    Wednesday – Chef’s Salad
    Thursday – leftovers or Allen will fix
    Friday – Company – we are thinking of a mixed grill with salmon, scallops and shrimp, a sweet potato salad recipe from Bon appetit that I want to try,lemon pudding cake and a fresh green something.
    Sat. leftovers
    Easter – Bunny Buns + I kinda want ham, but my daughter doesn’t like ham. We might do turkey.

    Tu – Twice-baked potatoes or just regular potatoes
    W – Greek Florentine Fettuccine, salad w/Greek dressing
    Th – Yakisoba, fruit smoothies
    F – Meatloaf, salad, jello
    S -Easter nests with jelly beans Spaghetti & meatballs (maybe..)
    Su – Ham, funeral potatoes, deviled eggs, jello with raspberries in it & cool whip, Green beans or salad, cake for dessert.

    but now that chicken tortilla soup might crop up instead of one of these!! It looks SOOOO GOOOOD

    ooh! i love this blog! sooo much food! i love food!

    Today: sushi, sushi, sushi!!! i had LOADS of sushi over from a sushi workshop I gave yesterday!
    Tuesday: baked camembert with cranberries, baked potatoes, salad
    Wednesday: stuffed peppers with arrabbiata sauce
    Thursday: homemade pizza with mozarella and pesto
    Friday: curry rice with scampi and pineapple
    Sat&Sun: off for a weekend trip…so hotel&resto food.
