Week 139 Menu

Before I moved to San Diego 8 years ago, I hated cilantro. After living 20 miles from Mexico for over 6 years, well…now I love cilantro. I am currently experiencing a similar metamorphosis with sourdough bread. Before we moved to the Bay Area…blech. But it is really starting to grow on me. What’s more, there are so many different kinds of sourdough here, it’s really fun trying them all out! Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

So I managed to break my ankle(badly, surgery and all that fun) and am out of cooking for the next 6 weeks. Anyone have menu ideas that can be made with VERY limited mobility and probably no stove top (unless I can figure out some neat acrobatics) Until I can stand again no menu from me.

That Tortilla Soup looks yummy. I’ve always loved cilantro even though I live nowhere near Mexico (I’m in Boston). I’m totally jealous you’re having dinner with Rocco. Have fun! Wish I could go to BlogHer Food!!

  23. I don’t have a menu this week, but I have been in search of acorn squash to make the Eating Well Southwestern Stuffed Acorn Squash that became a staple in our house last fall / winter. I haven’t seen any yet, though, and it is making me antsy. The cooler weather we’ve been having in Seattle is giving me some serious cravings. Anyway, can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve for stuffed squash!!

  24. as always, love all the menus!

katie – can’t wait to see you this weekend!

I just found your website and am loving it, esp. the way it is so UNPRETENTIOUS!
Sunday – Pigs in Blankets and Veggie Platter with Ranch for dipping (watching football)
Monday – Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans
Tuesday-Friday – The next four days are tough, kids have football practice (although usually not on Wed.) and don’t get home til late – I never know what to fix. They are not hungry beforehand, so they end up staying up too late to eat if we have a real meal or they get fast food on the way home…not good! anybody have any ideas? Maybe just sandwiches, but it’s several nights a week…
    Saturday – out to dinner
    Sunday – chili and cornbread

  28. Hey there, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Chrome, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, awesome blog!

I’m curious to find out what blog platform you happen to be working with? I’m experiencing some minor security issues with my latest blog and I would like to find something more safeguarded. Do you have any recommendations?
