I am officially the most tired I’ve been since Owen was born. Last night was a rough one. The whole time he was awake, I just kept reminding myself how wonderful and adorable he is and that I should be enjoying the time since he won’t be this little for very long. The pep talk mostly worked. 😉
When Mom is busy feeding the new baby and napping when she can, the older kids in the family turn into delinquents. Graffiti is Step 1 on the path to rebellion. But, I gotta say, I’m digging those colorful bricks. And graffiti is better than drugs and alcohol.
It’s a good thing we have people still bringing us meals this week because my brain is simply not functioning today. I couldn’t create a meal plan if my life depended on it! I’m hoping next week to {maybe} get back on the meal planning train. We’ll see how things go. Until then, please please please share your menus to provide inspiration for one another!
Also, I have more delicious recipes and meals to share with you this week from what people have been bringing us. Seriously, we’ve been getting great dinners. We are so grateful! Stay tuned for some of that yumminess.

After some busy weeks of too many drive-thru dinners (even with a menu plan), I’m trying something new this week. Prepping 2 dinners tonight, 2 nights of leftovers, a crock pot night and a sandwich night. Friday is usually pizza. Goal is minimum fuss after walking through the door at the end of the day.

Tuesday – Meatloaf sandwiches (leftovers)
Wednesday – Ham and scrambled eggs (leftover ham)

i decided to try something totally different (and slightly rebelious) this week. We are having a diner/fast food inspired menu the whole week. I started planning this week’s menu earlier today, and i wanted burgers, the kids asked for chicken tenders, and my husband was craving breakfast for dinner asap.so i incorporated all of those dishes, went along w/ the theme, and here we have it:
Sunday: Egg and Bacon Breakfast Sandwiches, fruit cups
Monday: KFC inspired fried chicken “platter” (we never have real FRIED chicken so this will be a treat) with mashed potatoes and corn
Tuesday:Burgers and oven fries, watermelon
Wednesday:BLTs on sourdough,mixed berries
Thursday:Oven baked panko chicken tenders, peas, sugar cookies
Friday: out to dinner
Saturday: Something decently healthy to make-up for this not so healthy meal plan, maybe a big green salad and some sort of non-creamy, healthy soup picked up from whole foods
what a fun theme for the week – love it!
Jane, I feel like I know you through your happy posts and our shared friendship with my cousin Allison. I have so been there with the ultra-tired new mommy life. It is hard, especially when you have unexpected things to recover from. Don’t let your blog stress you out too much. I know, easier said than done, but you deserve a little break here and there. I bet there would be people you know who could do awesome guest-posts in your behalf.
I have come here many times with an empty head and come away feeling like I can do thing called being a mom one more week. Just wanted to let you know you are awesome
awww, beth, thanks for your beyond sweet comment. I appreciate it!

Although, why is it that everyone else’s pregnancies go by so much quicker than your own?!?! 🙂
I am so sorry you’re sick again! each pregnancy I hoped it would be different…it never was, didn’t matter the gender of the baby or anything. it’s MISERABLE. hang in there.
and yes, I agree, your own pregnancy always feels super long, but everyone else’s fly by! 😉
I always thought girls made you sicker…but, we’ll see 🙂 I am super duper blessed that my husband is picking up a lot of slack. I owe him a week off once this is done 🙂

Thank you Jane for giving me a little perspective on my one sleepless night. I’m feeling tired this morning after a neighbour’s car alarm went off pretty much every half hour last night but you’ve reminded me that new parents have it far worse!

Let’s see…hopefully this week will go smooth and “as planned”.
Sun- We had a chicken & rice dinner brought to us by a friend. It hit the spot and I didn’t have to cook.
Mon- Quick Fiesta Chili. It’s an old recipe from my Granny that’s as easy as throw all ingredients in a pot and cook for 30 minutes.
Tues- I have a dinner meeting. The family will probably get takeout.
Wed- My mom is offering to bring dinner.
Thur- Spaghetti with “meatballs” (when I’m in a hurry, I just chop some Italian sausage in large chunks and tell the kids it’s meatballs. They are really easy to please.)
Fri- Hospital food…..I finally FINALLY get to have this baby boy!
Sat- I’m not picky so probably hospital food again, unless I can convince someone to bring me something a little more palate pleasing.
Sun- Hopefully I’ll be home from the hospital and someone is bringing me comfort food. If not, it’s takeout.
My other half has been sick in bed for 3 days, so we’ve eaten a lot of homemade chicken soup this weekend – and I made some chicken tortilla soup for this week…
Sun – Ham Steak w/ mashed potatoes & green beans
Mon – Hatch green chile sausage sandwiches w/ peppers & onions
Tue – Chicken Tortilla Soup
Wed – Lasagna Roll-ups
