Week 337 Menu

We are getting unpacked very slowly. I always forget how long unpacking takes when you move! But I am not complaining because I can’t even begin to say how much I love the fact that we can finally unpack and settle into the place where we are living. For example, I have a Simon Pierce punchbowl that we received as a wedding gift that has always been buried in a closet. It finally has a permanent home and will get used this week at our housewarming party. Woohoo!

I am also loving our yard. It is highly landscaped and may end up being a lot of upkeep, but it is beautiful. I spent most of yesterday cutting things back, including our hydrangea bushes. I have hydrangea bushes!!! (Can you tell I’m kind of excited about our house?)

I am realllllly hoping I stick to the menu this week. We need some home cooking! And I still have a bunch of avocados I need to use up, so we have lots of avocado-friendly dinners planned.

  1. Short week before we head to the Delaware shore for a week.

    S: TBA. Could be pizza. Could be takeaway sushi.

    S: Definitely out as we’ll be traveling. Road food baby. ROAD FOOD!

  2. I can’t wait to see pictures of your garden. I love hydrangeas!

    We have family in town this week, and they’re from a small town in the Midwest. So we are taking them to as many good California cuisine options as we can while they are here.

    Sunday: grilled fish tacos with beans, rice, chips and guacamole.

    Monday and Tuesday: out of town family decides.

    Wednesday: everyone leaves. my daughter requested homemade Mac and cheese so that and a vegetable.

    Thursday: roasted chicken with potatoes and veggies

    Friday: pasta with vodka sauce, bread, salad

    Saturday: leftovers

    Since getting back from vacation we haven’t had a moment to think about dinner. Let alone what to do for the rest of the month!

    Thursday- Listening to a local band and eating at resturant
    Friday- Grilled Brats and pesto, ranch pasta salad
    Saturday & Sunday – I usually do not plan meals for the weekend. Sometimes we eat out, sometimes friends come over or we travel places so we are not home to cook. But other times I am home all day so I decide to try something new.

    Once again, I’ve fallen behind on my blog, but I have a good excuse. Our daughter was visiting, it was my birthday, and we went to two Giants games. Do you buy it?

    11 weeks to the wedding, so we are keeping it easy…
    Sun – Baked “Toasted” Ravioli
    Mon – Asian chicken (marinade) w/ rice
    Tue – He’s having beans & franks, as I’m going to a painting class
    Wed – Turkey sandwiches on ciabatta w/ macaroni salad & chips
    Thu – Brats (w/ sauerkraut for him)
    Fri – Hibachi & game night w/ friends
    Sat – TBD…

    I’ve been out of town for weeks, so here is a belated CONGRATS on home ownership!! Welcome to the club 🙂 Your house is lovely looking and I hope you enjoy it! I live an hour north of you 😉

    I only have 3 things planned for my week so far:

    Crockpot chicken burritos
    Fried brown rice with veggies and homemade muffins
    Quesedillas of some kind

    Whatever else is easy, but healthy and won’t heat up my kitchen… TBD!

  15. Your menu is inspiring Jane, because I somehow came home with 10 avocados from our family reunion over Fourth of July. Yes, 10. Four of us showed up with Costco bags! Here’s what I have planned:

    M: Bean and rice burritos, with A LOT of guacamole!

    Tu: Easy Peasy barbecue chicken sandwiches, potato salad, and grilled peppers

    W: Nachos, with A LOT of guacamole!

    Th: Leftovers

    F: Grilled veggie and salmon kabobs (We are grilling a lot these days because our house feels like its 1000 degrees.)

    Sa: Dinner with friends

    Su: Grilled pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and grilled peppers

  16. The last time we moved, we were 90% unpacked and settled within 1 week. But, the last 10% still remains in boxes 3 years later. 🙂

    Tuesday: Pasta with spinach pesto
    Wednesday: Bacon, egg and cheese muffins with asparagus

    Love hydrangeas! We planted several last summer around our addition but they are still tiny (and haven’t flowered yet this summer). I can’t wait until they do!

    Weird summer schedule continues for us ”” but it is awesome to have flexibility and do what we please when! I’m also loving the plan where each kid makes dinner by themselves (as teenagers, they need to be able to cook and care for themselves & follow a recipe ”” plus they aren’t allowed to make something that they’ve made before so it’s great to try new things. And so much of their personality comes out with their meal plans!)

    Sunday: Daughter had friends over for a movie night so we grilled hot dogs and sausages. Had salads and veggies with lots of watermelon.
    Monday: 14-year-old daughter is making dinner tonight. She’s making chicken piccata. She’s working on filling out the rest of the menu now.
    Tuesday: Out for FIL’s birthday.
    Wednesday: Over to MIL’s for dinner.
    Thursday: Making the most of our CSA, which we get tonight, ”” doing orecchiette with broccoli rabe and turkey sausage.
    Friday: Daughter and I are heading out of town for my sister’s bridal shower the next day. Probably take-out for us. Guys are on their own.
    Saturday: Bridal shower and then family grill-out. Shower includes variety of different hot and cold salads: Chicken, taco, fruit, a few pasta ones, etc.

  26. Hope the moving in is continuing to go well. I agree that it always takes longer than you might think. I’m always amazed by how quickly moving in happens in my head when I’m planning things out, but how slowly they actually progress in reality. I’ve never moved with kids, though, but am guessing that they don’t help in the speed of things.

    Running behind this week. My mom is visiting for 3 weeks, arriving tomorrow night, so I’ve been house cleaning! I’m winging the meal planning for the most part, but here it is so far.

    Sunday – Hubby cooks. Spaghetti and meatballs, salad and garlic bread.
    Monday – Honey glazed chicken (from Costco!), fried rice (this was home made!) and broccoli.
    Tuesday – Panko breaded chicken with cream cheese sauce, mashed potatoes (are we the only ones who still eat mashed potatoes?), and asparagus.
    Wednesday – Raspberry grilled chicken salads.
    Thursday- Out to listen to music. Probably grab sandwiches before the concert.
    Friday – Out for a family dinner celebrating nephew’s graduation from Military Police training.
    Saturday – Visiting our local Amish town, probably eat somewhere there.

    Whew! It’s going to be a busy, but fun, week for us.

    Hi, I’m new here. It’s so great to have a new source of menu inspiration. I do Wednesday-Thursday menus; here’s last week:

    Thurs (4 th of July): burgers, watermelon soup, marinated veggies
    Fri: matza ball soup, challah, salad
    Sat: out
    Sun: herb-roasted salmon farro
    Mon: Moosewood tomato-egg curry, paneer tikka masala (sauce from a jar makes it easy), chana dal, brown rice
