These blue beauties are going in something extra delicious this morning, but you’ll have to wait a few days to find out what it is. Sorry for the tease!
I can’t believe it’s already menu planning time. The weeks feel like days to me, they pass so quickly. Only one carry-over item from last week’s menu, although I am doing the whole breakfast for dinner thing again on Sunday because it’s just so relaxing and easy, which is what I need on Sunday afternoon.
MONDAY:
– Moosewood’s Pasta Primavera
– Bread of some sort
TUESDAY:
– Bistro Chicken
– Garlic mashed potatoes + a veggie
WEDNESDAY:
– Stuffed Shells
– Garlic bread and salad
THURSDAY:
– Leftovers
FRIDAY:
– Hot Dogs (my kids love it when we have this for dinner, so I’m throwing them a bone)
– Carrot sticks and fresh fruit
SATURDAY:
– Eat out
SUNDAY:
– Breakfast for dinner: Waffles and scrambled eggs
Click here for the free printable of this week’s menu plus the shopping list!
As always, please share your weekly menu! Short, tall, big, small, we love them all! (Total Dr. Seuss material right thur.) Have a wonderful week!
Planning my menu while I look out at the rain. We needed it desperately, but it’s still dreary, so I’m planning lots of comfort food meals for the week 🙂
Sunday-Slow Cooker Carnita Tostadas, Mexican Rice
Monday-Chili and Cornbread
Tuesday-Baked Potato Bar with all the fixins’. Including broccoli, homemade cheddar cheese sauce, chili, sour cream, bacon (TJs Black Forest bacon is my new favorite), and homegrown chives.
Wednesday-Spaghetti, Bread, Broccoli
Thursday-ATK Brown Sugar and Ketchup Meatloaf (I haven’t made meatloaf in years. My 5 year old has never even had it! But I have some ground beef to use up, so we’ll give it a whirl), Mashed Potatoes, Veggies
Friday-Pizza (on the new frozen TJs pizza crust. Can’t wait to try it!) Breadsticks
Saturday-Leftovers
it’s so funny about meatloaf, I always think I want it, then I make it and am like, “meh, I forgot I don’t really love meatloaf” – then I go a few years and repeat the process. I don’t think my kids have had it, either! that ATK version actually sounds good, maybe I’ll give it another try!! 🙂

This seems to be the week of soups (4 meals) and eating a few remaining things from the freezer/pantry (3 meals). In all it is a pretty easy meal, which is great as I have a lot of other places to put my attention this week. I’ll double or triple the soup recipes and freeze leftovers for the upcoming months. Love it when I can just grab a meal already made from the freezer.
i am totally with you ! when i make soup a make a lot for leftovers since its so easy. i figure why only fill the pot halfway if i’m going to all the trouble ! i find that it seems like lots of winter type foods lend themselves to this type of doubling or tripling but summer stuff doesnt. i have way less leftover in the summer since i dont make soups, stews, etc as often !
Monday: Beef Tostadas
Tuesday: Eggs and Potatoes and Bacon and Fresh Fruit
Wednesday: Mini Corn Dog Muffins, Chili and Cauliflower
Thursday: Chicken Parmesan Rigatoni Bake from Picky Palate and Broccoli
Friday: Shrimp and Noodles and Salad
Saturday: Baked Tilapia Parmesan and Green Beans
Sunday: Italian Sausage Stuffed Shells and Salad
I haven’t had a hot dog in eons. Now I’m totally craving one. You know I’m not a planner but I do know hot dogs are now on the menu. And we’re making some lasagna on the weekend. Tomorrow I’m making french fries as homage to my mom. And I made two huge batches of pizza dough so pizza will be happening, a lot. Bistro chicken sounds really good too. Mini-me won’t eat poultry so I have to plan that for when she’s not around. She’s an interesting hooligan.
my kids just love hot dogs so much, they get so excited when I actually put them on the menu, it’s so funny! nate’s always a little bummed when that’s dinner, but oh well, the kids eat! 😉
and, yes, you have an interesting hooligan on your hands…can’t believe she won’t eat poultry!
Just curious as to what brand of hotdogs is people’s favorite?
for taste, Nathan’s is my favorite.
however, I am excited that Trader Joe’s now carries organic nitrate-free hot dogs – we had them for the first time this week. they aren’t as fatty, either – which is good for health (although maybe not quite as juicy), but I will definitely buy them again – they don’t have any of the bad junk in them.
Like Jane, I like Nathan’s and I also like the all beef Hebrew National.
ditto hebrew national!
i used to like Hebrew National which say they are gluten free but have gotten sick from them 2x now so i avoid them. there is a small brand in my grocery store called Colemans. black packaging and they are nitrate free and more “natural”. i really love them. I still cook them in just regular water and let them sit so to me they taste like a ball park style hot dog. but i gotta say….i really miss a gluten bun with my dog ! If you see the Coleman’s check them out. They are a bit pricey but really good.
oh my goodness, as always, so wonderful reading through your menus! they are going to be great inspiration when I plan next week’s menu. thank you!
and keep it coming!
