Week 442 Menu + Show and Tell!

Happy Sunday, everyone! So, today’s menu post is a bit unusual. First, I’m sharing Friday’s Show and Tell links with you today because, quite honestly, I forgot to share them on Friday. The kids and I were having too much summer fun!

Second, I don’t have a menu planned for this week! The kids and I leave on Tuesday to visit family on the east coast, so I honestly have no clue what our food plans will be. If you need inspiration, click here to see menus from past weeks. I always read through everyone’s comments on older menu posts to get ideas when I do my own planning each week. They are such a great resource! Also, just because I am not posting a menu doesn’t mean you can’t! If you have a menu planned, please share it in the comments!!!

For Show and Tell this week, I have several things to share with you!

    The first thing I am making this week is a batch of Jody’s Oatmeal Cookies”¦”¦”¦.doubt they will last all week though!

    Sun: Pan sautéed chicken cutlets with cherry tomatoes & garlic
    Mon: Shrimp & cucumber salad, rolls
    Tue: Salmon with soy sauce, fresh picked green beans from the garden
    Wed: Italian Night fundraiser dinner
    Thu: Baked halibut, sautéed zucchini
    Fri: Western omelets, toast, fruit
    Sat: Out for my brother’s b-day

    Mon – My youngest is turning 16 today. Although it seems we have been having a party all weekend, we are taking her to one of her favorite restaurants tonight – The Habit.
    Tues – Navajo Tacos (flatbread)
    Wed – Chicken & Vegetable Kebabs on the grill
    Thurs – Baked Ziti & Summer Vegetables, Salad
    Fri – Pork Medallions and Salad
    Sat – Chicken legs, Skillet potatoes, grilled zucchini
    Sun – Chuck Roast (in crock pot), Baked Potatoes, Peas

    Sat: grilled pork tenderloin, green beans
    Sun: grilled chicken wings, raw vegetables
    Mon: fajitas
    Tues: buffalo chicken salad
    Wed: steak tips, grilled vegetables
    Thurs: broccoli cheese omlettes,sweet potato hash browns

  4. That is a really great article, Jane. I learned about the blessings of the mundane firsthand after Junior’s cochlear implant surgery. It was heartbreaking not being able to sing lullabies to him as a baby, and not being able to reassure him with my voice when he woke up in the middle of the night. But now two years after surgery, he actually sings Amazing Grace to US before he goes to bed. Such simple things become miraculous when you have lived without 🙂

    My favorite post of this last week was “15 Screen Free Boredom Busters for Kids’ I think we all need some new ideas as summer wears on!

    Finally, our menu this week is fridge and pantry cleanout…we’re leaving for vacation this weekend, so I did minimal shopping just for fresh fruit, and the rest is just cleanout.

    Sunday-Black Bean and Cheese Burritos for the kids, Black Beans Nachos for us after the kids go to bed.

    Monday-Tortellini with Creamy Tomato Basil Sauce, French Bread

    Tuesday-Something with ground beef…TBD!

    Wednesday-Something with Chicken Breasts…TBD!


    Friday-Frozen Pizza


  5. Enjoy your East Coast sabbatical! What a great tradition to have. I found some rhubarb at the Farmer’s Market I couldn’t pass up. I made your rhubarb simple syrup, and that makes a GREAT grown-up, summer drink! 🙂

    Sunday: Steaks on the grill with corn on the cob and shaved brussels sprout salad 

    Monday: Chicken carnitas

    Tuesday: Carrot mac and cheese

    Wednesday: Shrimp kebabs (onions, peppers, too) with lettuce salad from garden 

    Thursday: Chicken nuggets

    Friday: Leftovers 

    Saturday: out

    Tuesday: Hot Sesame Rice Noodles with Asparagus, Shiitakes, and Pea Shoots
    Wednesday: Baked Honey BBQ Chicken Fingers and french fries
    Thursday: Tomato Basil Veggie Burgers and french fries
    Friday: Mozzarella Baked Spaghetti, 3-Cheese Loaded Italian Salad, and garlic bread
    Saturday: Spiralized Cucumber Greek Salad, Grilled Greek Chicken Kebabs, and pita bread
    Sunday: Spaghetti Carbonara

    so – just got home from a 3 week trip to Germany as a chaperone of high school students! So much fun! I leave next week for a 2 week trip to England with my husband – I guess I should cook this week!
    Sunday- patty melts (leftover burgers from my grandson’s 1st birthday party!)
    Monday – roast beef on the grill with grilled vegetables and salad
    Tuesday – salmon with fries
    Wednesday – out? (restaurant week in town!)
    Thursday – chicken caprese on the grill with salad
    Friday – make at home pizza
    Saturday – use up leftovers before our trip!

    Have fun on your trip! we have some decent weather on the east coast right now!

    because I spent all weekend relaxing by a lake, and I refused to go grocery shopping, menu is based on the quick trip to the farm stand on the way home:

    Mon — eggs, home fries, English muffins
    Tues — grilled pork chops, caprese penne salad, corn on the cob
    Wed — Homemade pizza
    Thurs — roasted beets & rainbow carrots over green salad, steak tips
    Fri — blueberry pancakes? (provided I can source some local syrup)

    dessert this week: mock apple pie. finally got around to trying the mock apple pie w/ zucchini, and my son couldn’t tell the difference! he inhaled it! was certain it was made with apples. It will now become my go-to recipe for those HUGE zucchini’s the neighbors are always giving us.

    Here’s my GF menu for the week
    Sun – Pineapple Chicken w Red Rice (Basically a healthy alternative to S&S chicken and veggies baked in the oven)
    Mon – Pesto Chicken Salad served in Cantalope halves
    Tue- Tilapia & Broccoli
    Wed – Leftover Pineapple Chicken
    Thu – Pulled Pork in Crockpot w Rootbeer and Coleslaw/Broccoli
    Fri – Out to a Blues Rock Outdoor fest thing that my boyfriend is super excited for. I…am super excited for the GF mexican restaurant in the area. i plan to eat my weight in queso LOL
    Sat – Cornflake Chicken Tenders and Waffle Fries. Why are waffle fries more fun ???????

    Tuesday: Fried Potatoes and Cabbage, Crusty Bread, Roasted Broccoli
    Wednesday: Ranch Bacon Chicken, Garlic Green Beans, Salad w/ Homemade Ranch Dressing
    Thursday: Crockpot Steak Chili w/ Cornbread
    Friday: Date Night 🙂
    Saturday: Pasta w/ Outrageously Delicious Marinara Sauce, Salad w/ Maple-Balsamic Dressing and Garlic Bread
    Sunday: English Muffin Pizzas, Crudite w/ Homemade Ranch Dressing

    I am a bit late in sharing this, but here it is. This is definitely a week where a meal plan is a life saver, one less thing to have to think about when in the thick of the day.

    1. Spaghetti with meat sauce
    2. Kheema (ground beef with peas), rice, beets
    3. Meatloaf
    4. Sandwiches, chips, apple sauce
    5. Pizza
    6. Leftovers
    7. Traveling

    1. Homemade waffles (from the freezer), scrambled eggs, fruit
    2. Lentils with Bulgar Wheat and Caramelized Onions
    3. Salad
    4. Homemade Tomato Soup

  15. So we just returned from our trip, and here I am late because of it, but this is what we did/are going to do:

    Monday: Pizza
    Tuesday: Lasagna and Green Beans
    Wednesday: Tostadas with Guacamole and Tomatoes
    Thursday: Fish and Chips and Broccoli
    Friday: Turkey Burgers and Oven Fries and Fresh Veggies
    Saturday: Mapo Tofu and Rice and Peas
    Sunday: Broiled Steaks and Salad and Garlic Bread
