It is crazy how work travel really throws off grocery shopping and cooking. After two weeks in a row having trips, I am home for a good while now. While figuring out what to eat this week once I was home was a bit chaotic, I sure did eat well in Austin, Texas. So, you know, worth it…for me at least! (My family may disagree.)

Her MIL grew up in a cabin/shack in the middle of nowhere in Mississippi and kept her family well-fed with this simple creation)
Mon: corned beef and cabbage, hash brown potatoes
Tues: Chinese tamales, braised Chinese broccoli
Wed: leftover chicken thighs and biscuits, heirloom tomato concasse with wilted swiss chard (NY Times recipe)
Thurs: leftover corned beef and cabbage
Fri: Bacon-wrapped scallops; leftover concasse
Sat: Stir-fry tofu, ground pork and leftover chard stems over bean thread noodles
oh my goodness, what is the name of the book? those biscuits sound magical
The book is called “The Kitchen Whisperers” by Dorothy Kalins. It’s going to inspire a meal this coming week as well.
