A New Home

Well, it is finally official and I can tell you what has been occupying half my time for the last month. We bought a house! After years of hard work and saving, we finally bit the bullet and took the plunge. (Can I come up with any more cliched phrases to use in a row? Probably…)

So, here it is! Isn’t she cute?

We even have a peek of the ocean from the front yard. CRAZY.

And here’s my new kitchen!

This weekend I will spend time scrubbing down the kitchen and bathrooms, and Nate will be removing the cabinets you see there above the peninsula. There is a bonus room built off the kitchen, which makes it a little dark. Removing that cabinet is going to really open things up and add a bit of light. I’m also looking into some lighting options (perhaps something like Solatube) to add some natural light to the space without needing to make any significant changes (or spend a lot of money!).

I also can’t wait to get my brand new Bosch dishwasher installed in this kitchen. This dishwasher is quiet, beautiful and smarter than me and it can’t wait to get settled into its new home. Neither can I!

So, now begins the task of moving…again…within 6 months. But we can do it, and I promise not to disappear. Menu planning and eating will still be happening!

Woohoo! That is awesome. It looks beautiful and I like the plantings (I don’t know if you do, but on first glance, I do! 😉 Congratulations. I hope moving in goes well.

  13. Oh hooray!!!!! That is fantastic news! Weeks and months of nail-biting, I’m sure.

I highly recommend Solatubes! Even the moon can light up a room….you’ll instinctively reach for the light switch. 🙂

Congratulations on your new home! Our first child came a few weeks early and decided to be born on the day we were moving into our first house, so everything we had planned out got completely flipped around and chaotic. (Such is life with kids, right?) On a plus side, we had a lot of family take care of the moving while we were at the hospital. 🙂 Here’s to hoping it’s a much smoother process for you and your lot!

Congratulations! What great news, I wish all of you good health, happiness and a lifetime of wonderful memories in your new home.

Hopefully the next 6 months go fast and you’ll share all the house upgrades with us! I’d like to see your ocean view too, all I get in Ohio is a golf course!

Whoo Hoo…Congrats! Now comes the fun stuff…decorating!

  20. Yay! What a beautiful home! Congratulations!! Can’t wait to hear about the new adventures in your new home!

  21. So happy for you Jane! Both of us have come quite a way from student housing yes? 🙂 Our first home should be finished (we are building) by the end of the year. I feel too spoiled just thinking about it. Your house is BEAUTIFUL and you guys deserve it!

  22. 23

    Congrats! Looks beautiful!

  23. Congrats! When my parents remodeled their kitchen, they took down similar cabinets, but put new ones on the wall (above the dishwasher) so they wouldn’t loose so much storage.

  24. 25

Oh my gosh! How cute! I’m so happy for you!!!

  25. 26

    Congratulations! It looks lovely.

We have two sun tunnels and I LOVE them. They are in our hallway which was very dark and when we first got them I kept flicking the light switch thinking that I had left the lights on!

  26. 27

    Congrats! Beautiful home!

  27. 28

Congratulations!! Looks like a very lovely house!!

Those overhead cabinets remind me of that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry’s contractor gets mad at him and builds him a crazy kitchen. I like that you took them out, it looks much nicer.
