I’m in love with my dish soap

I know, I know…how can someone be in love with dish soap? Here’s how:

  • I finally bought myself an olive oil dispenser to put my dish soap in. I’ve been wanting to get one of these for years and finally thought about it while I was simultaneously standing in a store that sold them. I was honestly giddy on Tuesday when I came home with this dispenser. I know, this isn’t an original idea, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome. And I LOVE the dispenser that I found. Isn’t it beautiful? (I’m also kind of loving this orange ceramic one as well. I’m committed, but maybe one of you can buy it in my honor? P.S. I got mine at Kohl’s in case you’re wondering.)
  • I love Costco’s Kirkland brand environmentally-friendly liquid dish soap. It’s clear, it has a nice light scent and it cuts through grease. I normally love Method for environmentally-friendly products, but their dish soap wasn’t powerful enough for me. I was so happy to discover that the Kirkland version works fantabulously.

Now you can see why I’m in love, right? My soap is pretty, it works great on grease, and is nice to the environment to boot. Too bad it doesn’t make me want to do dishes more. I guess I can’t expect my soap to work miracles on top of all the other great things it’s doing!

Ooh, pretty dispenser! I love Method, too, but struggle with its wimpy formula. I’ll have to check out Costco!

  2. Your pic is just beautiful and I love the dispenser idea (just in time for a friend’s birthday…so getting her a giant Costco soap+olive oil dispenser). Love it! Thanks for sharing!

I’m a Costco / Kirkland Signature addict, but I have not tried their dish soap! It’s going on my shopping list ASAP!

What a beautiful bottle and a great idea. We just joined Costco, I will have to give the soap a try.

  5. Ooh, ooh, ooh, gorgeous! I love the dispensability (is that a word) of olive oil bottles as dish soap bottles. Thanks for sharing!

Love the Costco dish soap–I’ve been using it for a while. Here’s my question: Does your olive oil dispenser ever drip the soap down the side of the bottle? I tried one that did and I’m wondering if I just had a bad bottle–or if the soap was too thick/wrong viscosity for the bottle. Perhaps I should try again?

I love the shape of that bottle! I still use the one Gram got years ago. It is so much prettier than a bottle of Dawn!

collette – mine isn’t dripping AT ALL….so, look at my spout and see if you can’t find one similar…I think it’s worth another try! 🙂

  9. love the bottle – thx for the Kirkland soap tip!

  10. I love the Kirkland Dish soap as well! We just discovered it a few weeks back and am definitely going to stick with it. I love your bottle too~

Thanks Jane for the cute idea. I never thought about doing it. I need all the incentive I can get to WANT to do the dishes. 😉

I am a recent convert to the Costco dishsoap. I am seriously in love with the fragrance! It has (almost) made me like washing dishes. Seriously, I want to dab the stuff behind my ears! Love your new dispenser.

I have a similar combo next to my sink, Jane. Very nice! I use the Costco brand and thought it worked just fine. But then recently I made a comment about something not looking clean and my mom said she thought it was the soap! I’d never thought of it. I just thought I hadn’t done a good job with the washing. Has anyone else thought it didn’t work well enough? Oh, and the trouble I have with my olive oil dispenser is that the topper gets clogged occasionally so I soak and/or rinse it and now it is rusting. But, I’ve had it several years so I think I may just need to replace the stopper.

that’s interesting…I feel like the soap cleans well. like I said, I’m comparing it to Method – it’s DEFINITELY better than that one!

interesting about your topper…I think maybe it’s time for you to get a new one! 🙂 and I’m pretty sure you can probably buy just the topper somewhere, is my thinking.

    anyway, thanks for your comment!

thanks to EVERYONE for your comments!! 🙂

I bought an olive oil dispenser for olive oil, but quit using it because I felt like it was leaking a lot from the top around the stopper. I think I still have the bottle up in my cupboard, so maybe this will work, but I can see my husband being concerned about having a glass bottle by the sink.
I think it looks great by your sink though.

Do you use one of these bottles for oil too? Do you have problems with leaking, or is my Target bottle just cheap and I should try something better?

someone else mentioned leaking. I am not having any trouble with that at all, and the right amount comes out….so, maybe my spout IS better….I would maybe try another one if you really want it 🙂

as for the glass – the thought crossed my mind. but my bottle is really thick glass, so I think I’d have to drop it from 6 feet in the air on a tile floor (which I don’t have) to get it to break. 🙂

I love it! I have had one for years and I actually think it saves on soap because it only allows so much out at once. My soap is blue and it looks so pretty on the window sill. I love that I can leave it out, it’s always there and it adds a splash of color.

OOPS.. hit enter too soon.. I have this exact dispenser. Got it at TJ Maxx… I LOVE it. Note: if the soap comes out too slow for your liking, add a little water. 🙂

Curious…. I just recently did the same thing but the soap is slow to pour out. Did you think yours at all?

    • so, does your bottle of the straw part in the top so air can get back into the bottle? mine does and so the soap comes out easily, haven’t needed to thin it out (although I do have to clean the spout out about once a week because the soap builds up and blocks the hole). my mom’s dispenser did NOT have that little straw/air return portion in the top and her soap was super slow. she ended up getting a different bottle with the air return and the soap was much faster. soooooo…I guess that’s my first question is what does your top look like? 🙂
