It’s a bagel morning at our house today. Want to know why it’s a bagel morning? It all starts Friday afternoon when Cate lost a tooth at school. Saturday morning she wakes up, checks under her pillow, and lo and behold her tooth is still there. Which maybe wouldn’t seem too terrible except LAST time she lost a tooth the same thing happened. That time, however, the tooth fairy snuck in during breakfast and Cate got two dollars instead of one and everything worked out. Unfortunately, yesterday the tooth fairy didn’t ever show. So, Cate wrote her a letter, wrapped that around her tooth, stuck it under her pillow then woke up this morning to find…the letter and her tooth. AGAIN. Thank goodness for the book Pinkalicious, we just keep saying, “It’s just like Pinkalicious! The tooth fairy just must be soooo busy this weekend.” Believe it or not, two other kids in Cate’s class lost teeth on Friday. Proof positive that the tooth fairy has more on her plate than she can handle.
Which brings us to the bagels…the tooth fairy only had a twenty this morning when she realized she screwed up AGAIN. So she went and spent $13 on bagels just to get the change…and by the time she got back with the bagels, Cate was already awake. Stupid tooth fairy. I kind of hate her right now. So, bagels for breakfast, everyone! Aren’t I a nice mommy to go out and get them so early? You’re welcome! I love you all, too!

The tooth fairy has frequently been too busy to get to our house on time too! Last time I think she made it during breakfast…..
ah the tooth fairy ! at our house when a child lost a tooth my husband would tie a string around his waist – so that when he got ready for bed he’d notice (a string on a finger wouldn’t cut it!) and then play the tf – a few times we had to “find” the $ left under the bed!

I used to hear the anguished cry and have the terrible moment of realization of utter failure. OK…You inherited this trait straight from your Aunt. Oh gosh. Tooth Fairy genetics gone wrong in our family. I finally had to assign the duties to Mary the Fairy at our house for everyone that came after her! I think that Cate will be an awesome fairy helper for Anna and Owen.
(Even plan B failed at times and the twins would just go to my purse where there existed the tooth fairy exchange!)

Yeah, at my house the Easter eggs got hidden on Monday while my kids were at school. They are teenagers so it is easier but they still like to hunt for eggs. We were visiting my older son at college on Saturday and had so much to do that night to get ready for Easter that the eggs never got hidden. That’s ok, life happens.

Haha! My daughter lost a tooth on Thursday and guess what, the tooth fairy completely missed our house! Glad this happens to other people as well, makes me feel a little better. It was funny because I just started jogging and Friday morning I left to jog and my husband met me outside when i returned. I snuck into her room and put $2 under her pillow, instead of $1. Then I told her I didn’t believe the tooth fairy would forgot so she goes to show me her tooth is still there and start a bawling that no one ever believes her, but she swears the tooth fairy didn’t come! I felt terrible, even worse really!
Don’t feel worse…at least you tried! She’ll understand some day!!!

Oh dear. Sounds like the Tooth Fairy needs to write a note back–in glitter ink of course.
The tooth fairy has been late so much at our house that my daughter has started putting post-it notes on her headboard with big red sharpie drawn arrows showing the tooth fairy where to find the tooth.
We have that same problem w/ that overworked tooth fairy! What’s a mom to do?

so happy it was a hit!
oh goodness! it was obviously a busy week with all the end-of-school-year activities, I never replied to any of your great comments of menus.
Firstly, so glad I am NOT the only one with issues with the tooth fairy. I think we’ve proven that she is overworked!
Secondly, as always, thank you for the menus!!!!!!!!!!!
๐
our tooth fairy tip ~ as soon as one of our 4 kids lose a tooth, i find the crispest $1 dollar bill in the house & put it barely under My pillow ~ that way when i invariably crawl into bed it’s an easy reminder ๐
I think I would very love that WEDNESDAY:
โ Cream of Mushroom soup. This is so me. I always prepare that as part of my diet.
