Week 283 Menu

Nate got Anna a white princess dress-up with accompanying veil yesterday. And I think this veil may become a permanent fixture on her head. It seriously hasn’t left her head.

Last week my 7-year-old Cate helped plan the menu. Each afternoon she would ask what was for dinner that night, and if the plan had changed (due to unexpected leftovers, errands, etc), she could remember what food item we had planned for which days. She would totally call me out on it and then re-plan out the week for me. It was sooooooo cute. And, thanks to her persistence, there is only one item we didn’t get to. Good job, Cate!

  1. So cute! We have a pink tutu that is worn for days at a time (over dresses, under dresses, as a headband,…) then forgotten for months! Little girls are just hilarious!!

    Sunday: Organic rib eye steaks and roasted mushrooms
    Monday: Stuffed shells
    Tuesday: Meatball subs on homemade hoagie rolls
    Wednesday: Dinner at church
    Thursday: Stuffed peppers in the slow cooker (stuffing = quinoa, cilantro, sweet potato, carrot)
    Friday: Leftovers
    Saturday: Out.

  3. Taking our 3 year old out to a movie and dinner tonight while the grandparents take baby. She’s been out of sorts since he was born, so some mommy and daddy time will hopefully help her attitude.

    Mon: Soy Chorizo & Potato Tacos w/ Crock-Pot Cuban Black Beans

    Tues: Arroz con Pollo w/ leftover black beans & southwest salad (I’m making an extra arroz con pollo for Meals on Heels…for families in our group who just had babies)

    Wed: Leftovers

    Th: BBQ ribs or chicken w/ broccoli salad & wheat rolls (making extra ribs/chick & brocc salad for Meals on Heels)

    Fri: Cheeseburger Mac w/ garlic wheat buns

    Sat: Teaching a French Cooking Class, so it’s Steak w/ Bernaise Sauce, Chicken in White Wine Sauce, & Creme Brulee!

    Sun: Grilled Shrimp Kabobs w/ steamed brown rice & broccoli

    this weeks csa bag was a good one and I plan to use it all up: everything is organic: eggs, honey, grains galore bread, 3.25 lb chicken, huge beefsteak tomatoes, huge cucumbers, and blackberry(but they are all gone already).

    Sunday: Spaghetti, garlic toast (using grains galore bread), roasted green beans

    Monday: Chicken, Baked Potato, salad (for me just a baked sweet potato and salad)

    Tuesday: Stirfry and Egg Rolls

    Wednesday: Pinto’s and Brown Rice, cornbread

    Thursday:(hubby fave) Salisbury steak, mashed potato, veggie (for me and the girls we will have leftover spaghetti)

    Friday: Tomato Soup and Grill Cheese Dunkers

    Saturday: Breakfast: eggs and pancakes (and either bacon and sausage which ever they decide and I’ll do the veggie version)

  9. Sunday: Whatever is in my fridge in Upstate N.Y. Have to get rid of anything perishable because…
    Monday: 6:30 p.m. reservation at Pesce Seafood Bar on Polk St. in San Francisco.
    Tuesday: Still tossing around going to the Giants game. If so, dinner at the Public House. If not, TBA.
    Wednesday: 6:30 p.m. reservation at Fleur De Lys in Nob Hill.
    Thursday: I’d like to do Flour & Water, but this will likely be played by ear.
    Friday: Early dinner at Ferry Building before our 6:10 ferry to Alcatraz.
    Saturday: My guess is that it will be In N Out Burger by our hotel in the Fisherman’s Wharf before we get on our evening flight back East.

    Follow along on my blog this week as I try to keep my weight gain below 40 lbs. Ha!

      Go to the Giants game! Get nachos at Compadres in the stadium. Do this for me, please. A huge Giants and Compadres fan who no longer lives in the Bay Area. And enjoy In-n-Out.

      Sounds fantastic! We’re heading out to San Fran and the northern California area soon. We’re trying to decide if the Alcatraz tour is worth the time ”” if you could report back how it was, that would be great! We’re staying at the wharf too ”” so excited to know there’s an In-and-Out burger there!

    Thursday: Spaghetti with Italian chicken sausage, mushrooms, and peppers

    Just got back from a European dream vacation and getting back into the summer routine. Trying to stay in and cook a lot thanks to all this free time.

    Sunday: honey lime chicken fajitas (on the grill) and rice
    Monday: chopped salad and baguette with butter
    Tuesday: steak, mashed potatoes, broccoli
    Wednesday: puff pastry filled with roasted mushrooms
    Thursday: chicken tenders and crudités
    Friday: shrimp scampi with linguini and salad
    Saturday: BBQ with the cousins—-burgers, hot dogs, chicken, chips, veggies, ice cream, and apple pie

    It’s been awhile since I’ve posted my menus here but I still visit your site all the time. Lately I’ve signed up for a produce co-op basket (Not a CSA but similar) and have really had to plan ahead to make sure nothing goes to waste. Here’s the plan for this week.
    Sunday: Bacon and butternut pasta
    Monday: Chef’s salad
    Tuesday: Tacos
    Wednesday: Chicken salad sandwiches
    Thursday: Eat out
    Friday: Hamburgers
    Saturday: Butternut stuffed pasta shells with brown butter sage sauce

    I’m lacking the desire to cook or meal plan (or eat much!) thanks to the heat, so I tried to stock some foods that will lend themselves well to more meze / tapa / quick and simple “snack” type meals. So not really a plan, just a list of things I’m thinking about for this week:

    -Eggs with Salsa & Corn Chips & leftover salad
    -Hummus, pita bread, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese, olives
    -Broiled salmon, salad, bread & butter
    -Turkey avocado sandwiches
    -Jicama avocado mango grapefruit salad
    -Chickpeas + rice + dandelion greens
    -Goat cheese on toast + something with swiss chard
    -Pasta with zucchini + chickpeas
    -Chicken adobo (if we feel like some “real” food)

    Wow, that doesn’t seem so bad after all.

    Friday=Going to Olive Garden!!!
    Saturday=Pulled BBQ pork from the crockpot on kaiser rolls, coleslaw and bowtie pasta salad.
    Sunday=Dad’s day to cook

    My 4 yr old has princess shoes that she got for Christmas 2 years ago that she still wears. I wish she could stay little forever. I know she would love the veil too.

    How sweet the veil is! My mom saved lots of my three sisters and my dress up clothes (my mom is an amazing seamstress) and they are now being worn by our daughters ”” so sweet!

    It is definitely harder now that the kids are home all the time (minus work and camps) ”” there’s so much more thought going into lunches and snacks. Muffins have been a favorite the last three weeks ”” strawberry, banana, blueberry and peach so far. Trying to make extra of dinner foods to double as lunches the next day too so they aren’t bored with sandwiches all the time.

    Sunday: Bobby Flay’s amazing grilled chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese with smoked chile cilantro sauce. Served with orzo risotto with grilled asparagus and zucchini, and peas. Milkshakes for dessert. The sauce is so amazing that we ate it on breakfast burritos this morning.
    Monday: BLTs with antipasto pasta salad and green beans (maybe a three bean salad actually).
    Tuesday: Leftovers.
    Wednesday: Grilled coconut chicken with cilantro rice and broccoli.
    Thursday: Chili Mac with turkey. Cornbread and whatever veggies look good at our farmer’s market that day.
    Friday: Calzones ”” not sure what kind yet, but probably with an Italian-style chopped salad.
    Saturday: Stuffed burgers with a roasted beet & goat cheese salad. Maybe fries too.

    Friday – roasted chicken, baby potatoes and carrots
    Saturday – grilled sirloin, pasta salad and grilled romaine

    Sunday: Jalapeno Popper Pizza and Fruit and Veggies

    My in-laws will be here on Monday and staying thru Sunday. It is way to hot for me to try to impress my mother in law with my cooking skills. I don’t want to be in a hot kitchen so here is my plan for their visit:

    Monday–Sub sandwiches with lots of veggies, fruit salad, cheeseball and crackers

    Tuesday–Out to eat at our favorite seafood place

    Wednesday–Too hot to grill outside. Ribs in the crockpot, baked beans in the smaller crockpot, cole slaw, corn o the cob. Strawberry shortcakes for dessert

    Thursday–Teriyaki Chicken in the crockpot, rice, green beans and lemon lush

    Friday– Baked potato soup with mexican cornbread then go out for ice cream

    Saturday–Roast with potatoes, carrots and onions in the crock pot, some whole wheat honey bread in the bread machine, apple pie from the bakery and I will make some wipped cream.

    Sunday– the in laws will be gone by dinner time so we will just eat all of the leftovers from the week
