Week 335 Menu

Hey everybody! Okay, so my menu this week is gonna kinda be lame. The house is a disaster, with boxes and piles everywhere you turn. And we are doing the actually moving on Saturday, so we’ll definitely be eating out for a few days!

removing kitchen cabinets | thisweekfordinner.com

cabinets before

We spent a little time at the new house this weekend and took out some overhead cabinets in the kitchen that divided the dining and kitchen areas. I can’t believe the difference taking those cabinets out made! The room feels bigger, the countertop feels bigger, there’s more light…it’s just BETTER. We lost some shelving but it was worth it. Along the wall to the right of the window above the sink, we’ll either put a cabinet on the wall, hang pots and pans from the ceiling or do a spice rack of some kind. Suggestions welcome!

Here’s my semi lame-o menu.

MONDAY:
Grammy’s Orange Chicken

TUESDAY:
Waffles

WEDNESDAY:
Turkey Boursin Baguettes

THURSDAY – SUNDAY:
– Eat out, sandwiches, cereal, whatever!

I am not providing a lot of inspiration this week, so please post your menus to inspire one another! Can’t wait to see your plans!

Congrats on the house! It really is amazing how much you can open up a room by pulling out a few cabinets like that! And I’ll say that while a cabinet right there would probably be great and give you more shelves, the one house we lived in that had a convienent place to hang pots and pans was awesome. It doesn’t really work for our current layout, and we have lots of cabinet space, but I loved how easy it was to just grab the pan I was looking for because they were all right there all the time.

I have no menu for this week. We have three evening swim meets, and a baseball game, so almost no nights home and I’m so not inspired for packing dinners. We aren’t much of a sandwich family, so it gets hard to come up with things to take. I’m hoping the food will just appear in the cooler.

  5. Oh, I hate moving. I wish I had the funds to hire people to do everything (moving, unpacking, renovations, painting, etc) for me the next time we move. At least you have an ocean view you that you can stop and admire when you’re tired!

Between gymnastics, t-ball, birthday parties, and all the other summer activities going on, I am finding that we are eating out more often than not these days, which kind of bums me out but then again…it’s summer!

Monday – took sandwiches, yogurt, etc to the park for a picnic
Tuesday – ate out between gymnastics classes for the kiddos (I did, however, make a homemade pizza for lunch)
Wednesday – eating out with the grandparents, though I have some chicken in the fridge I really need to use up so I will maybe do homemade chicken strips for lunch with some mac & cheese and peas
