Week 352 Menu

Hello! Today I can actually plan a real menu for the week – no more traveling! It’s hard to believe in the last 10 days we drove to Utah and back and then I flew to New York City and back. Phew! It’s been a great couple of weeks but it will be nice to settle back into normal life and get caught up on everything. Side note: if I lived in New York, all I would want to do is take photographs all the time. Even the subway escalator was photogenic!

I’m going to try to get back into the habit of trying recipes in my cookbooks again. May as well use all those wonderful books and mix up our repertoire a bit!

– Asian Chicken Noodle Soup (From America’s Test Kitchen Quick Family Cookbook)
– Potstickers

– Frittata and roasted potatoes (thanks for the idea from last week, Sarah K!)

– Meatball subs (thanks for the idea from last week, Mona!)
– Fruit and chips

– Leftovers

Homemade barbecue chicken pizza

– Take out

– Some sort of pasta dish, probably No. 3
– Salad and garlic knots

  1. sun: blt wedge salad; crispy panko chicken cutlets
    mon: sausage, grape, and potato bake; crusty bread
    tues: lightened swedish meatballs
    weds: philly cheessteak sloppy joes; antipasto salad
    thurs: linguine with clams; crusty bread

    sat: french onion salisbury steaks on baguette

  2. Sunday – Bronco game this evening, game food is on the menu! Scott’s making something yummy in the slow cooker with a big salad.
    Monday – Fish and greens.
    Tuesday – S and I are going out, we have a babysitter for the kids. They are having pizza and veggies.
    Wednesday – Noodles of some sort. Maybe spaghetti with a big salad and garlic bread.
    Thursday – School conferences were moved to this week. Soup and salad on the menu.
    Friday – Friday fun nachos. On individual plates with all the toppings.
    Saturday – Halloween festivities in town and an evening Buffs game mean easy comfort food tonight. I’m doing a baked potato bar with lots of toppings.

  3. It’s my daughter’s 5th birthday tomorrow! Wow! So hard to believe….

    Sunday: Asian salmon and roasted butternut squash with maple syrup glaze
    Monday: Homemade pizzas with broccoli (in honor of the birthday girl!!) and Peanut, Carrot & Cabbage Slaw
    Tuesday: Burgers on the grill and roasted brussel sprouts
    Wednesday: Baked pasta with green bean fries
    Thursday: Salmon salad in lettuce wraps with fiesta corn
    Friday: Egg cups and leftovers mashed sweet potatoes
    Saturday:  Out

    Sun: chicken-less noodle soup (lunch) & brisket and mashed potatoes (dinner)
    Mon: homemade sausage pizza
    Tues: black bean burgers and sweet potato fries
    Wed: asparagus risotto
    Thurs: homemade mushroom pizza
    Fri: spaghetti with tomato sauce
    Sat: MIZZOU Homecoming Tailgate GO TIGERS!

    Sunday – Lemon pepper fish, wild rice and lima beans
    Monday – Tortellini soup w/sausage, crusty bread
    Tuesday – Oven fried chicken quarters, baked fries, applesauce
    Wednesday – Vegetable soup – grilled cheese sandwiches
    Thursday – Pizza, salad
    Friday – Leftovers
    Saturday – High school band sub, Kluski noodle soup

    Can you tell they are calling for cold temperatures in Pittsburgh this week. Gotta love soup season. Hope you enjoy the meatball subs as much as we did.

    • Tortellini soup sounds yummy. Just got my kids to eat tortellini and realize it’s not as weird as it looks.

  7. I decided from now through the end of Novemeber I’m going to pick 1 cookbook a week and pick recipes to make. We will bring in a few from previous cookbooks too. I’m just so tired of our usual menu that never seems to change. So we are going change things up. My girls picked the kick off weeks cookbook. This week I’m cooking for Jack’s Cookbook. He was one of the contestants on the Food Network Guy vs Rachael Kids cook off. His cookbook is called: Twist it Up by Jack Witherspoon

    Tonight: Salmon(just for hubby) and Kale Salad (hubby and me) they girls will have pizza

    Monday: Angel Hair Pasta with tomato and basil marinara sauce.(Twist it Up) and Homemade cheesy bread

    Tuesday: Taco Night(Twist it Up) Spanish Rice and Refried Beans{for my youngest a quesadilla)

    Wednesday: Rockin Chili (Twist it Up)

    Thursday: Baked 5 Cheese Mac n Cheese (Twist it Up)(w. little smokies for the meat eaters)and Salad

    Friday: Homemade Pizza

    Saturday: Jacks Sunday Brunch Frittata (Twist it Up)

    Snacks and Dessert we want to try from Twist it Up: Banana Muffins, Baked Apples, and Chocolate Brownies {we will be making the banana muffins tomorrow. Will have to see how the rest of the week goes for the brownies and apples}

    A busy week for me, so meal planning is a bit of a challenge, but I think I’ve got it mostly tied down.

    Tonight: Italian Pot Pie and salad
    Monday: Trash day on Tuesday, so it’s “clean out the fridge night”.
    Tuesday: I work, so my husband will cook something (if I were to hazard a guess, it will be roasted chicken legs)
    Wednesday: Dinner at church
    Thursday: Crockpot Split Pea soup & grilled cheese/pannini (DD has a band concert at school, so dinner has to pretty much make itself)
    Friday: I have some short ribs I’ll be looking to do something with…suggestions are welcome πŸ™‚
    Saturday: I’m working that evening, so hubby will be cooking again…or feeding everyone leftovers)

    Sunday – buffalo chicken pizza made with leftover shredded chicken (it was so yummy!)
    Monday – leftovers from last week!
    Tuesday – salmon with fries and salad
    Wednesday – turkey tenderloin with baked potatoes and salad (making enough to share with a friend who is recuperating from a surgery)
    Thursday – out at a candidates forum (I’m a candidate!) remember to vote Nov. 5th!
    Friday – tbd
    Saturday – out for a Halloween party!

  12. I love black and white photos…something very striking even in the mundane…like a subway station!

    Sunday-Roasted Salmon with Crispy Potato Cakes and a Veggie (my 5 year old’s favorite meal.)

    Monday-FILs birthday so a friend is doing a potluck dinner for him. I’m bringing au gratin potatoes…from Costco πŸ™‚

    Tuesday-Fiesta Casserole (from ATK Family Cookbook)

    Wednesday-Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup

    Thursday-something with bacon. I have some TJs apple smoked stuff in the fridge I need to use.

    Tuesday: Crockpot Turkey Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, roasted cauliflower
    Wednesday: Parmesan Yogurt Chicken over spaghetti, broccoli
    Thursday: Leftovers
    Friday: Honey Thai Chicken Burgers, yam fries
    Saturday: Dinner at in-laws
    Sunday: some kind of pasta dish. Maybe lasagna?

    Crazy busy week running the Book Fair at school, so I have planned easy meals, and meals that can be prepped ahead.

    Monday- Sub sandwiches, chips and fruit
    Tuesday- Italian Meatball Soup with crusty bread
    Wednesday- Meatball subs with carrots and celery
    Thursday- Tostadas with all of the fixings
    Friday- Eat at school for 1st Family Night of the year
    Saturday- French Dip Sandwiches with chips and fruit
    Sunday- Beef Stew

    Thursday – Husband works late so TJs frozen food is my go-to for me and kids
    Friday and Saturday – Family wedding
    Sunday – Mummy hot-dogs, sweet potato fries, spinach salad (or any other Halloween ideas I can come up with)

    I am having a hard time figuring it out today – not motivated! Oh, well, here goes:
    Sunday – we had taco night as requested by my 6 year old!
    Monday – bacon & spinach crustless quiche, cut up veggies, and fruit salad
    Tuesday – crock pot butternut squash soup & grilled cheese (if anyone has a good soup recipe – would love to try it!)
    Wednesday – something easy – maybe breakfast dinner?
    Thursday – grilled salmon, roasted brussel sprouts, quinoa
    Friday – dinner out or at Nana’s
    Saturday – sleepover for my 8 year old, probably pizza night

    Thur: Bring share dinner with my Italian conversation group. I’m taking the <a href=""Wednesday Chef's roasted vegetables.
    Fri: Baked eggs, tomato salad
    Sat: Away in London, dinner with friends
    Sun: Dinner with family

    My oven element broke! So until my hubby finds the part, I am looking at stove and crockpot only cooking…. With a high of 37 degrees this week, it’s just too cold to think about pulling the grill out…
    Sunday: chicken marsala, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans
    Monday: Cajun Tilapia, rice, fruit, salad
    Tuesday: Breakfast for dinner: egg sandwiches, fruit
    Wednesday: Hubby cooks. Pork ribs in the crockpot, mashed potatoes, vegies
    Thursday: Hubby cooks. red beans and rice, bread
    Friday: pizza night- have to be order in if not fixed
    Saturday: steak night? depends on the oven situation for the baked potatoes….

    Jane – we LOVE this soup recipe! It even freezes well! I also brought a few mason jars full (frozen) when we went camping last weekend, and reheated in a pot over the fire – so good! thank you thank you! it’s a staple in our house this fall.

    Thurs -grilled steak tips, veggie risotto
    Fri – tortellini primavera

    Beautiful photo! The latter part of the week gets crazy so everything is pretty simple and easy.
    Sunday: Went out to dinner for husband’s birthday to a burger bar.
    Monday: Old fashioned hard and soft shell tacos with green beans on the side. Served with garden tomatillo salsa and avocados.
    Tuesday: Leftovers for the one person (me!) that will be home out of the five of us. Or maybe just a bowl of cereal if that tastes good! The rest of us will eat out between work travel, orchestra rehearsal and play rehearsal.
    Wednesday: Chicken, broccoli, quinoa and cheddar casserole ”” nice one-dish meal!
    Thursday: Butternut squash and mushroom lasagna with side salads.
    Friday: Marching band senior dinner for three of us (meat and veggie lasagna) and leftovers for the other two plus my parents who will be coming into town.
    Saturday: Cedar planked salmon and chicken breast with smashed CSA yukons and zucchini.
