Week 353 Menu

Today we’re going to visit the woman from whom we purchased our home. She lived here over 40 years and  is, according to everyone who knows her, sweet and wonderful. Her previous gardener called her “my Ruthie.” How sweet is that? She is now living in assisted living and we can’t wait to meet her. We will, of course, come bearing cookies.

I can’t believe it’s time to plan another menu. Sometimes the weeks just come too fast!

– Baked potato bar (thanks for the idea, Elizabeth!)
– Yummy toppings for the potatoes

– Chicken Mole
– Rice and beans

– Linguine with cauliflower and brown butter (from Everyday Food: Fresh Flavor Fast)
– Salad and crusty bread

– Happy Halloween!
– Ordering pizza then trick or treating!

– Leftovers

– I’m out of ideas right now, so let’s just say takeout and hope I come up with something better before Saturday 😉

– Nachos
– Guacamole, beans, etc.

You know the drill – time for everyone to share their menus! Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for the week!

I love a home with a history of love!! Sounds like you found a gem.

  2. Since our kids grew up we have a new Halloween tradition: we go out to dinner and skip the whole trick or treating tradition. My wife is a substitute teacher and it becomes awkward when encountering students who know her at the front door.

Hi Bonnie! Both you and Amy above have waffle fries on your menus. What are they? Can you share your recipe? Thanks and have fun in Disney World!

    • Oh my. I must confess. I have an emergency bag of Alexia sweet potato waffle fries in the freezer. Costco had a giant, resealable bag that works well for us. We’re trying to eat through the freezer stash, so it’s time for these babies to go!

    • Marie

There’s no shame in frozen fries! I’ll have to keep my eye out for the waffle variety. Thanks for your reply!

  5. I love that you’re still in touch with the woman who you bought your house from. I’m sure she’ll love the cookies!

Here’s my meal plan for the week!

could you share the pumpkin pizza idea?

    • Hi, it’s just a homemade pizza and we make the toppings look like a jack-o-lantern face. The kids love it!

    • Tara

just a suggestion…i have to eat Gluten Free and so i need to modify “chicken nuggets” there is a great recipe using cornflakes (plain no sugar – GF for me but for you obviously dont have too) on Gluten Free on a Shoestring. Basically its taking melted butter and spices and coating chicken then using ground up cornflake crumbs and baking. i LOVE them GF or not. if i remember right i usualy need to bake them for longer than her recipe and often turn them in the middle of baking. i really like them. just a suggestion for anyone looking for a wheat free nugget or just something different.

    • Jane Maynard

love your idea, tara – thanks for sharing that!
