Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday, Everybody!
Unbelievably our East coast visit is almost halfway done. Tomorrow morning we pack up the Sienna that Toyota has graciously lent us for the trip and head north to Cape Cod. We didn’t visit the Cape last year so we are very excited to get back!
It’s been a while since I’ve talked about TV. That’s just not right. I have a Netflix show to recommend today that is super funny and cute. But first you need to know that the name is TERRIBLE in my opinion (and pretty much everyone’s opinion everywhere). Nate and I didn’t even consider watching it just based on the name. But my friend Wendi texted to say we had to watch it, and I trust her, so we did, and it’s the best! Okay. Ready for the name of the show? Drumroll….Scrotal Recall. I KNOW. The name is just plain silly, but I’m telling you, this show is hysterical while also endearing and sweet. (Definitely rated R, just so ya know!)
Two food links to share this week!
- Babble: 3 Kids, a Mom & a Kitchen: Popcorn Ball Ice Cream Cones
- Solly Baby Blog: Best Dinners for New Parents (lots of great tips in there!)
That’s it! You know the drill, share your stuff, too! Whether just a little something from your life, a favorite new show, a link to your blog, a new recipe to share, whatever! Share away!

Week 442 Menu + Show and Tell!
Happy Sunday, everyone! So, today’s menu post is a bit unusual. First, I’m sharing Friday’s Show and Tell links with you today because, quite honestly, I forgot to share them on Friday. The kids and I were having too much summer fun!
Second, I don’t have a menu planned for this week! The kids and I leave on Tuesday to visit family on the east coast, so I honestly have no clue what our food plans will be. If you need inspiration, click here to see menus from past weeks. I always read through everyone’s comments on older menu posts to get ideas when I do my own planning each week. They are such a great resource! Also, just because I am not posting a menu doesn’t mean you can’t! If you have a menu planned, please share it in the comments!!!
For Show and Tell this week, I have several things to share with you!
- For Babble I wrote a post about how traveling to Malawi as well as meeting Stephanie Nielson from the Nie Nie Dialogues transformed making my kids lunches from a chore to a privilege. It’s a goodun, especially the last paragraph.
- I wrote another post about the Malawi trip, this time for BabyCenter and focused on the personal impact that the lack of electricity has on people’s lives there. Here’s the link to the article: Can you imagine raising kids in a home with unreliable electricity?
- For Parade’s Community Table: 12 Not-Just-Strawberry Shortcakes!
- And another for Parade: 17 Summer Sips: Cocktails to Beat the Heat
That’s it for today! As I mentioned earlier, please post your menus in the comments. We especially need you on these weeks I’m traveling to provide inspiration for others! Thank you in advance and have a wonderful week!

Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday, everyone! I am currently sitting in a beautiful hotel room at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley, Utah and feeling incredibly spoiled. I am at the Albion Fit Soulstice Retreat and it is the BEST. I wish you could all be here with me, especially because the food has been marvelous and the gift bag is off the HOOK.
Today I have some really fun, perfect-for-summer food links!
First off, I created a recipe for homemade “Inside Out” Junior Mints for Babble that is AWESOME. You need to make them and then go see the movie!
And, TWO posts about popsicle for Parade’s Community Table this week. It’s summertime!
- 15 Fabulously Rich and Creamy Popsicles for Summer Indulgence
- 12 Boozy Popsicle Recipes for Some Serious Summer Fun

Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday! It’s funny, usually weeks that start with a holiday feel short to me, but not this one…Friday couldn’t come soon enough! 😉
I know I can’t stop talking about Africa (which is a reflection of my mind, which cannot stop thinking about Africa), but I have to share a documentary with you. Joe Kraus from ONE recommended the movie Virunga while we were driving around the Malawian countryside. Nate and I watched it this week and it is so beautifully made and thought provoking I had to let you all know about it. So many of the issues that I witnessed in Malawi are explored in this film, with the added complication of the war that Congo is experiencing. I literally sobbed my way through the movie (fair warning!). The movie is streaming on Netflix. If you want to support Virunga National Park, click here. Also, this article on Huffington Post provides an excellent summary of the movie and what it’s all about.
Okay, food link time!
- I’ve got another great use for the rhubarb simple syrup for you! On Babble I shared a recipe for Raspberry Rhubarb Sangria, including a non-alcoholic version, too.
- And, in case you hadn’t heard, National Shrimp Day was in May, so I pulled together a fantastic roundup of shrimp recipes for Parade’s Community Table.
That’s it! As usual, please share your own stuff! Just updates from your life, recipes you’ve found during the week, links to your own blog posts…anything goes!

Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday! Hope you had a good week. Mine was okay. It was actually kind of rough coming off of Malawi – I was pretty emotional all week. But whenever I looked at these photos of Allison (from Heifer International) and I jumping in Lake Malawi, it made me happy!

Just two food links for you this week!
On Babble:
- Grilled Chocolate Strawberry Galette (super gooey and delicious!)

Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday, Everyone! I have three fun food links for you today but, before we get to those, I have some super cool news!
Back in the day I was an International Relations and Women’s Studies major at Boston University. My focus was women and developing countries and my undergrad thesis looked at the complications of creating and enforcing international women’s rights laws. After graduation we moved to San Diego and I started working in PR and life took a different direction from what I studied in college, a wonderful direction that has brought me to where I am today. But all of those issues I studied and cared about so many years ago have remained close to my heart. A few years ago I connected with ONE at Mom 2.0. Every since I have absolutely loved working with ONE and using my blog as a platform to support their efforts.

To complete the circle, or, more accurately, enlarge the circle, in just a few weeks I will be traveling to Malawi with ONE, Heifer International and 7 other amazing women writers (Ana, Ellen, Heather, Karen, Meredith, Rachel and Wendi). As I’ve been reading about this small and beautiful African country and learning about the specific issues that the Malawian people face, I’ve felt overwhelmed with excitement, gratitude and just overall “feelings.” I cannot WAIT to get on a plane May 8 and head south of the equator!
For food links, here’s what I’ve got this week!
- On Babble, some tips for how to help your kids make you breakfast in bed for Mother’s Day without you having to do any work! I also included a recipe for Chocolate Coconut Overnight Oatmeal. Be sure to check it out!
- For Parade’s Community Table we have 10 Mouthwatering BLT-Inspired Recipes
- And on the Solly Baby Blog 15 Fabulous Mocktails for Mom-to-Be!
Your turn for show and tell! Share whatever you like, from accomplishments in your daily life to blog posts to great links on the Internet. Anything goes!

Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday! We’re still on vacation, so I’m going to be quick today!
I shared a recipe on Babble this week in honor of Grilled Cheese Month, Apricot Brie Grilled Cheese. The sandwich was inspired by baked brie in pastry crust with apricots. This sandwich is just as delicious as that great appetizer!
Also, I just bought a lemon squeezer and I’m SUPER excited. It’s the little things. 😉
You know what Show and Tell means…please share your own stuff! Whether it’s just something that happened to you during the week, a link you find interesting, or your own blog posts, we want to see it!

Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday! I have a couple food links to share and a new TV show we’re loving!
Nate and I started watching Bloodline on Netflix this week and we’re loving it. In fact, last night when we had an episode of The Americans waiting on our DVR, we chose Bloodline instead. That’s saying something! Honestly, I think we gave it a shot because Coach Taylor is in it. Glad we did!
On Babble this week I created a recipe for Strawberry Mint Fizz, which is super tasty and refreshing. I wasn’t so sure about the strawberry mint combo, but it totally works, especially with a bit of cucumber thrown in. Delicious!
On Parade’s Community Table I put together a roundup of Carrot Cake Inspired Desserts Perfect For Easter. They all look amazing!
Show and Tell time! Share your stuff!

Friday Show and Tell
Happy Friday, everybody! Today I have a few links to share, but first we need to talk Tillamookies.
When I visited Tillamook last summer, we had the chance to sample a few ice cream products that weren’t yet released to market. I have been waiting for those two products to come out and one of them finally has! I would like to introduce to you the Tillamookie! What’s a Tillamookie? Why it’s an ice cream sandwich made with waffle cone cookies with a dark chocolate coating and Tillamook ice cream or gelato. They come in vanilla, chocolate hazelnut, mint chocolate chip and strawberry flavors and they are SO GOOD. I’m not just saying this because I met the cows where the cream came from. Seriously, best ice cream sandwiches ever.
Tillamook kindly mailed some samples to our family (yes, we did eat them right before dinner yesterday…the kids were delighted).
Tillamook is ready to mail Tillamookie samples to one of you lucky people, too! This may not be a high-retail-value giveaway, but it’s one of my all-time favorite giveaways yet! To enter, just do the following!*Leave a comment on this post! That’s it!
